You do not want to use oily coffee beans as they will stick together and clog the burr grinder. The grinder is also bit noisy, yet produces the perfect cup of pressure-brewed coffee or espresso every time. After using this for a week, I’ve never enjoyed coffee from anyone else including formal restaurants. It was initially pricey but definitely worth every cup. Cost: no charge but out of service for 8 days. I still found the C1000 a great appliance and Jura-Capresso a very reputable company. I excluded the cost of water since we pay a minimal fee, but never use the charged amount. I compare Starbucks prices since there is a huge quality difference between their pressure-brewed coffee and drip coffee at your local food mart. So my break-even point with the Jura-Capresso C1000 was between one and two years. The remaining eight to nine years of coffee I consumed was at no cost (when compared to Starbucks). Although my C1000 unit has experienced problems, it continues to be the most awesome coffee machine ever. But it is truly automatic, which is nice for serving more than one person quickly, brews quickly and makes very good coffee. The one that I had for about 10 years was starting to leak and I knew that I could not be with out the coffee from the Capresso C1000. It's like having a mini Starbucks in your kitchen. The coffee that this machine make is fabulous. You have minimal choices when it comes to the strength of the coffee and the machine doesn't produce an incredibly hot cup of coffee, which is not a big deal to me because I don't like it that hot. I don't often use it to make anything other than a regular cup of coffee, but occasionally when I make an espresso or cappuccino it does a wonderful job. Seriously, you don't get much interest in or experience of superautos on here mainly because at their price point most people want a bit more control over their brewing and opt for a separate grinder and machine. I would recommend grinding your own rather than the integrated grinder, and also do the cleaning tablets. I am reassembling it right now and thinking of selling it. Still trialling it. Also, this particular machine, probably at least once a year, needs to be taken apart to clean out all the coffee ground residuals and gunk. Obviously, that is not what Jura intended but hey.While that is fine, I believe the brewing time is too fast and at inadequate temperature. Adjusting the coffee strength relies on trial and error. The amount of ground coffee is the same, the brew time seems to be the same but the amount of brewing water is the variable.
