Sounds like a Fender clean that can handle twangy or jazzy.It doesn't break up much so you can really push it. The gain channel is pretty crazy.It can get a really nice crunch - with the EL34s in mine it has a nice Marshall flavor.It can also get really heavy and gainy.Be careful as it turns to fizz if you use too much. The manual is quite clear and sufficient for basic use. The bias adjustment is on the bottom of the chassis and takes some work to get to.That's one of the few drawbacks. SOUNDS This amp likes humbuckers as it is a mean machine.However, singles sound terrific through the clean channel and even better on the gain channel with the gain way back.Very bluesy and articulate when used in that way. I like both channels very much.The gainy channel has more gain on tap than most amps and can get squealy and fizzy if overused.Some amps sound great with the gain knob wide-open - this isn't one of those. The manual comes with some great settings for all sorts of styles. The EQ onboard is simple yet effective. This amp sounds different with 6L6s than with EL34s.The 34s give a British warmth to the tone while the 6L6GCs I used made it more recto and buzzy in tone. OVERALL OPINION I like the price and value of this amp.Mine has been modified by Voodoo Amps in Ohio.They have a special mod for this thing and it's worth every penny.It makes it tighter and more clear. I am planning on installing Tung-Sol 5881 Reissue Power tubes with some Tung-Sol 12AX7 Pre-Amp tubes. Very simple to use.

The clean channel is beautiful.Built like none other. It isnt around 60 lbs for nothing. Strong durable tolex, metal corner covers.great. This is simply a great head. It isn't going to match a 100 watt Mesa in volume, but I believe that it could go beyond a Mesa in tone. Plenty of volume for anything, stock tubes sound great, replacing these will only make it sound better. For the price, these heads are a steal. It has a perfect crunch with my Viper 400 with emg 81's. The first power cord I hit made the hair on my neck stand up, and my mouth dropped open. I like the entire look, lights and all. My friends Marshall doesn't even have the standby light. It don't sound any better either. I haven't found anything about it I don't like yet. Maybe the weight, it makes the stack a little top heavey. But it feels bulletproof, and that I like. Built like a tank I've only had it for 2 days, and I love it. I have 2 Crate B52 cabinets under it. The combo Rocks! The other guitarist in the band has a les paul with a Marshall stack, I don't feel outgunned at all. I wish I had bought it sooner. Both channels offer a wide range of sound that blows just about every other amplifier away. The stage presence is just unreal. Honestly, you don't need effects with this amp. It is easy to tune in a killer crunch sound that blows away Marshalls. When I first saw this amp I immediately went home and grabbed my Schecter XXX and returned to the pawnshop it was at. I went directly in to the amp without any effects and I immediately fell in love with it. I currently use a Digitech RP7 and a Metal Zone pedal and I get some intense sound out of this setup. The power of this amplifier is unreal.

Nothing can drown this 120 watt tube amp. This is a used unit and it suffers a broken effects switch on the front face plate. It doesn't effect me at all and would be a quick fix, if neccessary. I'm not much of a tube fan either but this amplifier justifies the hassle. Honestly, I can't find anything about this amp to really complain about. It rocks! Other than the broken effects switch, the amplifier is built like a tank. This thing weighs a ton. It's taken me 20 years to find a guitar amplifier that I'm totally satisfied with. Great job Crate! The clean is clean and bouyant, the lead channel sounds great.one should note that the factory installed tubes do no justice for the amp.in fact they compromise it's sound quite a bit. The reverb is nice and not over bearing. The excessive low end takes the edge off of the wound strings. It fairly well constructed. I've taken it apart, and it's not flimsy junk. It weighs at least 50 pounds. It's cab is about an inch or so larger all around than a typical Marshall head. For the money, I really like this amp. It could be used professionally, and it is. The tone is really good once you put the right tubes in the preamp.and put some EL-34s in the power section and it's incredible sounding when you crank it up. Mine (blue Tolex, CRATE logo golden and writes standard font) is made in the USA. 2 channels: clear (Low, mids, and High volume, and a saturated (low, mids, high, gain and volume) A short spring reverb, each channel has a knob for adjusting the reverb (which is not a footswitch accionables: either it is removed, or was the desired dosage via the knob).
UTILIZATION I had occas' without manual, but the settings seem simple. Premium abbord, the sound of the amp with all equalo noon made me rather afraid. Fortunately, the knobs are sensitive: the amp is naturally loaded treble, bass pretty poor (at least with lamps Groove Tube of origin). It has a good reserve of gain on the overdrive channel and the clean channel is really not bad. There is a huge difference in volume from one channel to another: the overdrive channel is 2 times less strong, even if ultimately it has sufficient reserves. Note that the original lamps (all WG) in my opinion are of poor quality, and in any event not suitable for this amp: the sound is naturally aggressive, no need to put lights that highlight these features. I put everything in JJ, and my god, the result is quite surprising. Very effective! SOUNDS I play doom and stoner rock, and this amp does not look for it. That said, I can be satisfied in a (but it can not be not be the case for all). I would say it has thrashers address or death metallers, and also has black metallers for the overdrive channel. Basically, for the extreme metal. What I like about this amp is above all this huge headroom. The result is a hyper its not thick, but with enough body and a basic side-aggressive unusual in the genre, but it works. Then I regret one side a little too crillard for my style of music, but if I did the heavy, I find the delicate balance between warmth and coldness that hits. I add quen adjusting the gain to 3-4, a very good crunch, which directs the amp in another register on GET TIRED more brittish rock.The clean channel it has a lot more body and presence that saturated, which makes it really welcoming to the pedals. OVERALL OPINION I've had a year and this is my first tube amp, even though I played on the Engle Powerball for a while. It is on it's an amp that has carracteristiques like it or not. Just do not be afraid to nag about the settings, but believe me, the EQ is effective and can give very different colors. There will always be this aggressive side with sharp shining, but the choice of lamps is paramount. You may say that it is a little the principle of a lights amp, but in this case, it can really make the difference between a sound you either love or hate. JJ seem all set for this amp: they soften to give him warmth and roundness, and there is obtained for an amp that is really cheap for its quality, something that has personality. If you tip it enough so that the coffee does not pour over the top, it will leak. It leaks all the way around the top where the metal meets the plastic. I tried several different areas to tip and they all leaked when the coffee got close to the top. So, this unit is going back. I can't pay this much for an item that doesn't work properly and leaks when I pour. Something so simple can ruin a good cup of coffee. I wanted to like the machine, I really did. Please try again later.I had gotten tired of making manual pourover Chemex brews in the morning. It was just too time consuming. I wanted something I could set up, hit a button before I got in the shower and be on my way. Given that I like to grind my beans right before the brew, I saw no need for the fully auto version with a pre-set time. I just didn't want to grind my beans the night before. Thus far, everything has been great with this brewer. My biggest gripe is the carafe. As others have mentioned, it is designed in such a way that it's next to impossible to pour out the last little bit of coffee without basically turning the carafe upside down. However, it's not much coffee and it's a small trade-off for the convenience. Nevertheless, Bonavita should figure out a way to fix that problem. Some things I've learned: - I accidentally bought the number 2 Melita filters instead of the number 4. The number 2 do the trick, but they are just barely big enough. Number 4 is much better. - A 6-cup Chemex brewer will actually fit in this machine. Who knew this would be the cheapest method for an automatic Chemex? (Edit: this no longer seems to be true. I had to get a replacement model when our original one stopped brewing, it the model we received is smaller now. The Chemex will not fit.) - If you use the pre-infusion mode, stick around occasionally to make sure it's still on. I noticed at one time it had revered back to the non-pre-infusion mode. I think it was the result of a power outage at our house. - 50 grams of coffee is a perfect medium. You can adjust from there, but it's a very good place to start for your brew. - A course grind is definitely the way to go.Please try again later. Please try again later.
