Since this is an inexpensive foreign made bandsaw from the 70's, we were not able to find any parts, partslist or manual anywhere. Fortunately, my brother is a tool and die maker and he made a piece that worked. I suggest looking for a replacement bandsaw on Craigslist, that was going to be my next step. Look for any wobble in the blade as it runs. Check the guides and thrust bearings for wear. Check out the fence system for proper operation and stability. Check the blade tensioning system for any problems. If everything looks OK, see if you can make a good deal.Not high quality. But if it's built in the late 70s early 80s, it's better quality then cheap stuff built now. It's not american made.I don't know exactly why.Thanks again. I have a cart going on Amazon, and figure I should ask people who know what they're talking about before I pull the trigger. Are the power-twist link belts the way to go. Is anything I have a waste of money. Am I missing something important. Aside from what you list, I can add that having an accurate square is vital: make sure the blade is square to the table and that the table is basically flat. If it's a tilting table, don't trust the built-in angle gauge. If it's a fixed table, there are probably adjustment screws. If it has a fence, you want that square to the blade. Easiest to determine this if the table has a miter slot. Make sure the fence and blade are parallel to the miter slot. They're great for curves and reasonable for ripping. Forget the cheap ones you find at big box stores (have one, now gathering dust).

After changing to my resaw blade and with a little effort tuning the guide bearings and aligning the table, can slice 10cm high boards with as little as.2mm variation. Saw a great trick for checking the angle between the blade and table. Take a piece of board. Make sure two of it's opposing edge faces are parallel. Turn the board top to bottom and make a new cut next to the first. If your blade is perpendicular to table, the two cut will be parallel. Easily verified with calipers. Also with new blades. If not, you might not get much improvement with new ones. When tuning the saw, make sure the wheels are perfectly lined up and true. I've also head of people just spinning the wheels and if there's a heavy spot, drilling a divet to balance them. I don't know how sturdy the stand is, but again, heard of others putting in a piece of plywood between the saw and the stand to stiffen it and absorb some vibration. Really though, what do you need to improve. What's wrong with it.That Grizzly G0555p looks pretty nice. I just added links until it was the right length for my pulleys. It's a fairly expensive solution though.I would also replace the throat plate with a zero-clearance insert. Check the thrust bearings to make sure they're spinning nicely.Double-check the width of the urethane tire. Assuming you're just cutting wood, and not metal, you generally want to have two teeth in contact with the work piece at all times. If you need more than 18 TPI, you're probably in scroll saw territory. As I understand it, this rule becomes more important with metal, and it might even be more teeth. Here is a link to the bandsaw book. I wouldnt waste any money on the blocks, and without seeing the tires you have on there already it's hard to know if it is even worth it to upgrade them. Watching that video and learning to tune your bandsaw will be more of an upgrade than any of the stuff you have listed there, unless what you have is literally falling apart.
