Palmettostatearmory A lot of different manuals have a few different ones but its pretty limited and buffered loads are almost unheard of. I ran across Buckshot Loading Manual 3rd edition on Ballistic Products Inc's website. Would it have the info i'm looking for in it. It says it has loading data for all gauges and stacking guides but the description is pretty lacking other than that. I'm open to any other suggestions of manuals and such that anyone else may have.It's got more buckshot loads in it than Lyman's 5th edition. However it's limited in certain hulls. Then it uses all BPI filler wads or wraps and most all BPI wads. Also Fiocchi uses Fio 616 primers. There is about 24 loads with Win AA hulls, 5 Rem hulls, 11 Fio, 2 Cheddite, and 5 Fed GM hulls. All the rest are BPI MultiHulls. Just about all of them use BPI supplied wads, wraps, and gas seals plus I see only one using a buffer. It has a how to pattern your loads section and what effects patterns. The manual is very good BUT be prepared to order components to load your buckshot loads from BPI itself. Like I said, most all wads, wraps, gas seals, etc.Several but not a lot.Hope this gives an accurate summary of the BPI III Shotshell manual. Just so you know that most loads use BPI components. Just to add that Ballistic Products INC. BPI has an excellent master catalog and sends out sales flyers occasionally. The catalog has all kinds of shotshell loading tools that you might need. Some really neat tools for anything shotshell. Plus they have all kinds of shot, components, and other products.

For instance, these are 51 grains each, but nominal sized pure lead buckshot would be 54.3 grains each, you could over-charge your load by 35 grains, more than I'd feel comfortable with. So if you go by purely the count you could end up over-charging the weight.I've loaded a bunch. Not girly loads. Don't cheat on loading, these are pretty high pressure. I had it bookmarked for the STS loads at the bottom using the flex seal, same thing that precision reloading sells as the gualandi gas seal. I had it bookmarked though because not many loads call for something without petals and therefore easily being able to use 000.

From my point of view, it was simply a lucky hit at a range beyond any reasonable certainty of placing a lethal pattern on target. So I may go back and pick up some Rio pimers but was surprised since I though cheddite made rio hulls. FBThere is data for Cheddite hulls with Cheddite primers but not many loads under 12 gauge. They seem to have significantly more load data for 16 gauge - 28 gauge using Cheddite components. The overall shot column may be a bit bigger than with birdshot so you may have to adjust the height of the wads to compensate. A nitro card and fibre load would be easy to make from a bird shot loading the same payload weight as suggested above. What components are you planning to use UK or US? Bigpapa 5.0 out of 5 stars This press does not like new shell that much. It is harder to get a good crimp with new shells. That is my opinion. I only made 00 buck and slug rounds. Of course it won't feed buck shot or slug, you have to do it by hand. The rest of the procedure is done by the press. Now i have bought another one to go beside it so when and if the other one breaks down i will have a spare one. This press is not a fast press. I can make 75 to 100 rounds an hour which is good for me. For the money it is a very good press. The machine is setup in a logical manner to walk you through the reloading process step by step. It goes a little slow at first but as you gain experience and a system, you can get it done efficiently. If you enjoy working with your hands, this could be considered fun. Plenty of Utube videos out there on this machine. View a couple before making your purchase. Whether you're into trap, skeet or hunting reloading might just be that extension of your hobby to get you through those cold winter months as you reload and dream about nicer days.But I like it because I scrounge for shells at the club and I can reload just about anything in small batches of 25. Stretching the number of hulls that it is possible to reload from an industry standard 25 lb.That this change has also resulted in minimal changes to scores in the shooting sports such as skeet and trap has only expedited the switch among high volume shooters to shooting 24 gm.Field use of the International 24 gm. 12 gauge shells has proven them to be effective on small game, while stretching the number of reloads possible from a bag of shot, and they have subsequently become popular for hunting small game. Universal charge bars, on the other hand, are capable of reloading both lead or steel shot, being adjustable.For shooters shooting fewer than approximately 500 shells a month, and especially shooting fewer than 100 shells a month, a single-stage press is often found to be adequate.
For shooters shooting larger numbers of shells a month, progressive presses are often chosen. A single stage press can typically reload 100 hulls in approximately an hour. Progressive presses can typically reload upwards of 400 or 500 hulls an hour.That is, a single hull will often be deprimed, reshaped, primed, loaded with powder, have a wad pressed in, be loaded with shot, be pre-crimped, and then be final crimped before being removed and a new hull being placed on the shotshell press at station 1. An alternative, somewhat faster method, often used on a single stage press is to work on 5 hulls in parallel sequentially, with but a single processed hull being located at each of the 5 stations available on a single stage shotshell press, while manually removing the finished shotshell from station 5 and then moving the 4 in-process hulls to the next station (1 to 2, 2 to 3, 3 to 4, 4 to 5) before adding a new hull at the deprimer (station 1) location. Both these modes of shotshell reloading are in distinct contrast to the common practice used with reloading pistol and rifle cartridges on a single stage press, which are most often processed in batch modes, where a common operation will commonly be done on a batch of up to 50 or 100 cartridges at a time, before proceeding to the next processing step. This difference is largely a result of shotshell presses having 5 stations available for use simultaneously, unlike a single stage cartridge press which typically has but one station available for use.The reloading of such large cartridges is also much more complex, as developing a load using a specific lot of powder can require nearly all of a 5 lb.A three-die set is needed for straight cases, while a two die set is used for bottlenecked cases. The first die of either set performs the sizing and decapping operation, except in some cases in the 3 die set, where decapping may be done by the second die.
