Replacement is easy, exact procedures depend on your motor configuration. In my case (MTD Yard Machines mower) I simply had to remove the plastic cover over the pull cord (3 snap tabs holding it in place), remove the 3 bolts holding the fuel tank down and pry the dip-stick tube out of the way. Disconnecting the fuel line was the final removal step, then slide the old tank out and the new tank in. Without the other maintenance I chose to do the replacement would probably have taken 10 minutes tops.I was able to remedy that with J-weld, which worked fine for a year, and then fell off. I was able to re-apply the J-weld and it worked fine again, but I decided to purchase this new tank anyway, so as not to have to deal with the crack any longer. It fit perfectly, which was my biggest concern, and is easy to switch out with the old tank. The only thing I wish it did come with were the 3 mounting screws, as I had lost two from the previous tank. I made due with screws I had, but it would have been nice to have the mounting screws come with the new tank.Easy replacement: 3 screws on the top of the recoil and one bolt on the side of the tank.While you have it apart, you might want to consider replacing the fuel hose that runs from the tank to the carburetor.Interesting note on the fuel cap.Common issue where the upper and lower molds meet each other. Didn't want to bother repairing it and have a leak down the road so I decided to replace it. Now I get 2.5 cuts per tank as opposed to 1.5. I didn't realize I was leaking gas until it was dripping out. The difference in cuts per gallon let's me know it's been a problem longer than I thought.Otherwise good. Well, I don't see any leaks now with this. But the the gasoline was leaking through the cap area. I closed the cap properly and tight, but gasoline was leaking. So I had to use the one from my old tank which was a replacement cap from the original. I don't remember the original cap having this issue, but this one did.

Overall, I was happy that I didn't have to spend a fortune to replace this, but taking a star away for the cap not sealing completely and making the gasoline leak.The old tank, which really wasn't all that old and had never been left out in the weather, was on my Craftsman Power Washer. It is very easy to take off and install, about 6 screws that's all. When I wheeled out my Toro mower the other day, I noticed it has the very same gas tank on it. With a great feeling of confidence, I knew where I was going to get a new one if it ever leaks. Of all the power equipment I've owned over the years, I'm 74, this is the first gas tank that ever leaked on me. Don't pay someone to do this for you. Amazon had the best price of anybody and believe me, I shopped it around. Sears had the worst price.Surprisingly easy to remove the old tank and install the new one. Termination of Membership and Cancellation of the Program Membership may be terminated by Canadian Tire if any of the following events occur: (A) the Member has failed to comply with any of these terms and conditions, or Canadian Tire determines that the Member has abused the Program or has made any misrepresentation or false statement to Canadian Tire; (B) the Member dies; (C) the Member becomes bankrupt or insolvent or any bankruptcy or insolvency proceedings are commenced by or against the Member, (D) the Member is charged with a “designated offence” (as defined in the Criminal Code (Canada)), (E) the Member’s Program Payment Card is terminated by Canadian Tire Bank, or (F) Canadian Tire suspects the Member of any fraudulent activity in connection with the Program or the use of a Program Payment Card. A Member may choose to cancel his or her membership by written notice sent to the address below or by calling Program customer service. Termination or cancellation of membership in the Program will result in the immediate closing of the Member’s Triangle Rewards Account and the cancellation of all eCTM in such Triangle Rewards Account without any compensation or other liability to the Member. Termination of a Member’s Triangle Rewards Account will also result in the Member no longer being able to use a Program Payment Card linked to the Program.
