Reply Ionic Admin 11 November 2016 Hi Dominic, you can fix a broken coil wire by soldering the two pieces together. If necessary you can unwind one loop of wire from the coil to give you more to play with. There’s also a blog post here that might help you fix the wiring in your toothbrush. Reply Jerzy 8 February 2017 Great guide, It took me 20 minutes to replace the battery and now toothbrush is working again ?? Thank you. Reply Warren 13 May 2017 My oral b braun electric toot brush won’t hold a charge for more that 3-4 days, so I had Battery Plus change the battery. Now with the new battery fully charged it won’t run. I can’t find any lose wires or anything. Got any ideas? Really don’t want to throw it our as it was working fine before they clanged the battery. We also have a guide to fixing common issues on our customer support page. Reply SteveH 8 June 2017 first, id like to thank you for your detailed explanation of the inner workings of this toothbrush, I have had it for years and need to put it on charge all the time. It stopped working the other day. When i took it apart i see the three wires from the PCB to the coil are broken. The housing holding the coil is broken on one side and being that it is highly sprung i think this caused the problem Is it fixable. I though of unwinding the coil to give me some more wire to solder to the PCB. Reply Ionic Admin 8 June 2017 Hi Steve, yes you can repair the wires by resoldering them. Make sure you touch the wires with the sodlering iron to burn off the thin transparent insulation. See our blog post on repairing the copper coil wires here. Reply Daniel S. 15 November 2017 In preparation for the replacement procedure, I had already taken the device apart once, concluded that it was fitted with a 42mm battery, decided for the “larger battery and cut down the spring” option and sourced a 48mm battery.

With full confidence in the guide, I followed the steps to the letter, only to realize that it’s missing one crucial point when opting to put in a larger battery (which cost me a wasted battery). Pretty obvious once there, but oh well ?? Reply ric Hudson-Taylor 10 August 2018 G -day my unit turn on but the shaft willnot turn or engage regards RIC Reply Ionic Admin 10 August 2018 Open up the toothbrush using the relevant guide and check for corrosion around the motor and PCB. Reply VINCENZO BRANCA 28 October 2018 Ho letto delle sostituzioni e delle riparazioni. Io non ne sono capace. Esiste un centro per farmelo riparare pagando. E dove? Reply Ionic Admin 29 October 2018 Salve, we keep a list of toothbrush repair services. Reply Mike (PL) 22 December 2018 I have just replace battery second time. It is not bad. Thanks for your perfect manual. Reply Ionic Admin 22 December 2018 You’re welcome. The battery life depends on how many people use the toothbrush and the quality of the battery you use. Reply A Denton 14 August 2019 I have replaced the old battery with a new fully charged battery (I charged it in a separate battery charger) in my braun 4729, now it will not turn on. Reply Ionic Admin 14 August 2019 For some common solutions have a look through our troubleshooting tips page. Reply Michel 4 October 2019 Thank you for this guide. I changed the battery and is charging right now. It took me about an hour, I’m a noob in soldering. But it worked and learned a new skill. I used a desoldering pump after that I had to use the knife to losen the these points. Thanks again. Reply Jack 10 July 2020 Thank you for this extensive description to replace the battery. Is there a specific reason why to solder the two motor connection terminals back on to the circuit board before soldering the battery’s negative tag to the circuit board. I did a batterychange and found out that small copper wires were not connected anymore to the PCB.

So, I started to puzzle and tried all connection possibilities (but still unsucessfull) Can you share the how many volt I need to measure between the soldering points of the small copper wires on the PCB (when I “connect” the base to the charger before assembling everything in the outer casing). Reply Ionic Admin 10 July 2020 Hi Jack, when re-connecting parts to the PCB it’s best to re-connect the power source last to reduce the chance of accidental short circuits. There is an article on re-connecting the fine copper wires from the charging coil here. Reply Jack 10 July 2020 I have seen that reconnecting-sketch fro copper wires. How do I know which coil is A and which coil is B? Are there any answers available what voltage should be measured. Reply Ionic Admin 10 July 2020 It doesn’t matter which is A and B as long as you are consistent. There is no voltage to measure, just continuity when all the wires are disconnected. With innovations like 3D cleaning action, sensitivity monitors and whitening modes, you’ll love how clean your mouth will feel. Thank you for joining our mailing list. We can't wait to share upcoming news and special offers for Oral-B. Knowing the model of Oral-B electric toothbrush you have is very helpful. It can be used to determine the appropriate parts and accessories for your toothbrush. There are two numbers on the handle which are important, the Type Number and the Production Code. This will identify which model of electric toothbrush you have. It is a 4-digit number which can be found on the underside of your toothbrush and is highlighted by the red arrows below. The Type Number should also be listed on the user manual for your toothbrush. This may be needed if you contact Oral-B with questions about your toothbrush.

The format varies depending on the model; the blue arrows below point to the production codes for those brushes. To double-check, you can find the charger Type Number on the underside of the charger. All you need to do is visit our Service Website. Simply enter your toothbrush’s Type Number. If this hasn’t been your experience, there are a few things you can try. First thing to do is check that the power outlet you are using is working as it should. If it’s attached to a bathroom cabinet, for example, the light switch on the cabinet may need to be switched on to power the socket. Make sure you are not charging the toothbrush on a metal surface. The metal can interfere with the charging process. If they’re on the charger while switched on, they won’t charge correctly. The best thing to do is to put it on the charger for 30 minutes or so, and then try to switch it on. If it switches on, that’s great, and it was correctly switched off while charging. However, if doesn’t switch on, that might mean that it wasn’t switched off during charging. Be sure you’re charging for the full time noted in the manual. For our Vitality and PRO 500 toothbrushes, that’s 16 hours. For all other toothbrushes, they should be charged for 22 hours. All our toothbrushes apart from the Vitality and PRO 500 have a charging light. It should blink green during charging. Note that this can take up to 15 minutes to start happening if the toothbrush was entirely drained of battery during brushing. When charging is complete, the blinking should stop. If none of these tips help, and you still are not getting the full usage time from your toothbrush, you make use of the two-year manufacturer’s warranty on your Oral-B toothbrush. To do this, head over to our Online Repair Service. You’ll be able to enter your details, and the details of the toothbrush, to get your toothbrush booked in for repair.

You’ll then be sent a pre-paid, pre-addressed shipping label, and a tracking number you can use to keep track of your repair. Note that you’ll need a copy of your receipt to arrange this. If you’ve had the toothbrush for longer than two years, it’ll be out of warranty. However, our Service Centers may still be able to help. We would recommend contacting them by phone or email before sending in your toothbrush, as they’ll be able to advise you what the best course of action will be. If you need any more help with this, please get in touch by emailing us on our website.
