Hard to go wrong with a Whaler, for a whole host of reasons. For what it’s worth, I also liked the Grady White Tournaments, but ultimately the Whaler was a better fit for my needs. I have a 135 OptiMax on my boat, which provides plenty of power. I’ve never been on a Ventura with 115 hp, but the Whaler is a heavy boat for its size. You’ll want to make sure that 115 Merc will do the trick. Please feel free to ask me any general or specific questions you might have. I love talking about my boat!Everyone loves to point out that their boat will go 38, 40 even 42.I honestly can't see myself going that fast, especially with the boys. You can get info at the factory site. Great hull - very stable and rode well for an 18' shallow drafting boat. I had a 150 Opti on it. It topped out right at 50 mph with a light load. Great boat for water sports. You can eventually put a larger motor on it because the hull will last forever.A depth finder was not standard equipment, but you can have one installed for a couple hundred bucks. (Or do it yourself in about an hour.) It is a great boat. I use it on a lake in Indiana and with all the traffic out there it handles the choppy water really well. It will top out at about 45 mph in a light chop and trimmed out. It is great with the kids and grandkids. The only issue I have is that it will not stay on a plane at much below 20-21 mph. For what it’s worth, I also liked the Grady White Tournaments, but ultimately the Whaler was a better fit for my needs. I have a 135 OptiMax on my boat, which provides plenty of power. I’ve never been on a Ventura with 115 hp, but the Whaler is a heavy boat for its size. You’ll want to make sure that 115 Merc will do the trick. Great hull - very stable and rode well for an 18' shallow drafting boat. I had a 150 Opti on it. It topped out right at 50 mph with a light load. Great boat for water sports. You can eventually put a larger motor on it because the hull will last forever.A depth finder was not standard equipment, but you can have one installed for a couple hundred bucks. (Or do it yourself in about an hour.) It is a great boat. I use it on a lake in Indiana and with all the traffic out there it handles the choppy water really well. It will top out at about 45 mph in a light chop and trimmed out. It is great with the kids and grandkids. The only issue I have is that it will not stay on a plane at much below 20-21 mph.
