Shipping: I stated two business days but usually turnaround time is same day, or day after payment is received. I do recommend having a professional install them. You are the light of the world. I have had this sub laying around for years, probably close to 10, just sitting in the basement or garage collecting dust. I just recently got around to fixing the system in my car which was installed by the previous owner(head ache unto itself). The sub set up he had was a little prefab Kicker 8 in a tiny little box to fit behind a door panel, very unimpressive sounding. I decided to build a box for the Boston, per the manuals spec, and replace the lack luster Kicker. The manual says ideal box is a sealed 10.5 x 13 x 13 internally. I've never built one before, but was pretty happy with the outcome, it does appear to be fully sealed, pushing on the woofer cone I do not hear any air coming out, and its quite stiff, leading me to believe its properly sealed. Here are some pictures My bass eq setting is at 0, LP filter set somewhere around 80 hopefully, subsonic somwhere around 30 hopefully. I say hopefully because the markings on the amp are vast and it seems to be mostly guesswork when adjusting the knobs instead of getting an exact number. I removed the bass knob remote as well, and the head unit does not have a subwoofer level setting, only bass, which is set at 0. The sub definitely sounds under powered, and from what I have read, it certainly is. However, I can't find a reliable RMS rating for it. Everything is hearsay from forum members. The Boston manual says 50-1200 but does not state whether its peak or RMS, I am assuming the 1200 would be peak. When I adjust the bass eq up on the amp, it definitely will get some thump going to it, but its not consistent, some notes will really hit hard and sound nice, some will not hit very hard at all. And does anyone know of the true RMS rating or have an amp suggestion.

http://popconsensus.com/admin/image/bowflex-heart-rate-watch-manual.xml

I definitely plan on purchasing a new amp, just wanted to get some ideas on what power rating I should be shooting for, and some specific model recommendations would be appreciated.I ran a pair of them for several years back in the late 90's. I spoke at length with them about it back in the day, b4 O scopes and dd-1's were readily available and there answer was that their numbers were rms numbers on music. Meaning in your case, if your amp was rated at 1200 watts then on music you could show the 12.5lf all 1200 wAtts. The problem with that back them was we adjusted gains by ear and that didn't always work out to well. I still to this day run ba pro series components and drive them on a daily with the maximum wattage the manual calls for. The Rubicon 1000 seems like a good value for 600 at 4 ohms. Output is what it is, which is very good btw, but don't expect to be hitting 140db's with it. What you can expect is good clean hard hitting bass down to about 25hz. I have read alot of (seemingly) contradictory info about it, but I figure it's so cheap and readily available it would be worth a shot. Also thinking about rebuilding the box. My internal dimensions are exactly to Boston's specs, but when I built it I didn't use any glue. I used the wood screws you can see in the picture, and made sure to do a really good job sealing the seams from the inside, and made sure to not mount the woofer ontop of the carpet.but after seeing the build quality of some of the stuff on here, I can do better. And use glue next time Also sub is in a 1 foot square sealed box. We carried the Pro, Rally and Rx lines of Boston's. I recently just put in a set of Pro Series 6.53 in my Silverado. I would of loved to have put in a Boston Pro sub along with it. With the sealed enclosure you should be very happy with the response and accuracy.

Please try again The sound: Placement is key: I moved mine a couple inches away from the cubicle wall, which made a big difference. I think they may be a bit bass heavy (perhaps better placement could refine the sound a bit), but overall they have a surprisingly delicate, non-fatiguing, and transparent sound that I did not expect for the price. Construction: I feel like these speakers are worth every penny I spent. I was smiling as I unpacked them despite the frustrations of removing the packaging. They feel solid with a good weight to them and the components feel higher quality. My only complaint is that they feel tipsy: the rubber pads on the bottom should have been placed a little farther apart, and the rubber itself is pretty soft which allows then to move more than otherwise, but I bet the feet were done that way on purpose to help isolate the speakers from the desk. I do also think it would be nice if there were separate volume knob and power button. It's almost the size of a small subwoofer, but I am not bothered by that at all. I just tucked it under the desk. I would much rather have good sound with a large amp. Good job BostonSorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again The M220's have 4 drivers per speaker and offer a truly wide range that includes substantial bass (especially considering there is no separate subwoofer). These speakers provide simply awesome sound (given their limited size) for television applications. I simply connected them to my Samsung's headphone jack (included) and am able to adjust the volume right from the television remote. Those of you considering these speakers, let me tell you that it is hard not to be impressed (again, given their limited size). I agree with another reviewer that stated the weight of the remote amplifier is not a negative. These amplified speakers provide clear and fairly powerful sound that is more than enough to fill any average size room.

In closing, these speakers are excellent in their own right.Price is a factor in speakers, and if these were priced at a thousand dollars, then I wouldn't give them 5 stars. At under forty bucks, I'd give them 6 stars if it was an option.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again I sent it back for repair, it blew out again on the third replacement I was told to keep all three sets. I know this is suppose to be sound system. I don't know what happen with this particular line, the person I was dealing with was very nice, he said he did not know what it kept shorting out and loosing all bass.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again That being said, a little research on speakers pointed me to these and I am very pleased with them. They have a full sound and don't seem to be lacking in any range of frequencies. They do have a bulky electric adapter of some kind, but it hides under my desk easily enough, and these speakers get louder than my old ones ever got and still manage to maintain a good quality of sound. This is great for when I want to play music while I'm doing the dishes (my computer is on the other side of my apartment). The base of each speaker is actually soft rubber, which reduces sound quality loss caused by vibration through your countertop. I was also surprised with the level of bass on these, even without a subwoofer. I originally wanted the set with a subwoofer but demurred because of the price. Having bought these, I'm glad I didn't spend the extra money on the subwoofer, as this is all I need. To be fair, my old speakers were pretty bad, so anything would've been an upgrade. If you're coming to these from an already decent pair of speakers (or even a bad subwoofer) then they might not have all the bass you want. For everyone else, though, they're great.Sorry, we failed to record your vote.

Please try again However, my main use for these is playing my iPod while I cook in the kitchen. I listen to rather mellow music for this purpose, and the vocals get muddled on these speakers. For this price, these speakers are a steal. But I wish I still had my JBL Duet speakers--those were cheaper than these, yet gave me the acoustic sound quality that these speakers struggle with.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again They are killer speakers, quite attractive, and take up virtually no desk space. They are the crispest computer speakers I have ever heard, they have amazing response time, amazing treble and bass. I couldn't be happier. And a site note, through the Boston Acoustic site you can order colored grilles. Chili pepper grilles here I come.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again It turned out to be caused by the plastic packaging on the speakers resonating with the audio beats. The distortion disappeared after I removed the plastic covers from the speakers. To my amazement, I discovered that the speakers offer a rich, deep, and soulful sound. Even more amazing is the amplification the system provides. The speakers work flawlessly with my Mac Mini. I believe I have selected an excellent value.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again The rubber backing give them good insulation and protection. Excellent, pure sound on the highs and lows. (Disclaimer - If you are one of these people who like the fake bass pumped through so that your drywall cracks, you won't like these.) They are very sensitive to interference, (i.e. - monitors, routers, etc) so keep them several feet away if possible. Nice professional design, excellent sound, can't beat them for the price. Right on par with the Bose Companion 2. I tried both and they both sound the same to me. Took the Bose back to save money.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again The speaker was very hot -- too hot to even pick up.

Although it still played music, the speaker was dangerous to use because it t could become hot enough to catch on fire.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again They sound great but the volume knob failed where it would drop out at some settings, so I wanted to replace them and the BA units seemed to fit the bill -- good reviews and a good price. But I did side-by-side comparisons and the Klipschs blew away the BA units. I actually took the Klipsch units apart and sort of fixed the volume-setting problem, then returned the BA units. The BA units sounded just OK - basically like slightly upgraded TV speakers. No low end, marginal mid range. Can't recommend them.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again. But this review is about the Boston MM 220's. I did not expect miracles. Auras capture it ALL. The Boston Acoustics MM 220-- smart. Cabinets have a sound dampening rubber coat, which lends itself well for laying the units on their sides. No vibration vertical or horizontal. The cloth covers a grill so the active and passive drivers are protected. The amplifier circuitry being enclosed in the well ventilated remote enclosure that also houses the AC to DC step down transformer is a big plus. Smart. I have just completed hearing disc 2 of Rush's Chronicles. Is there or is there not a preponderance of bass? hi hi. No, to my ear, you can clearly hear every instrument including Getty Lee's bass guitar work, without distortion- at any listening level. Worth noting- at maximum amplitude, there is no distortion. Remembering that-- there is no subwoofer, one must remain within the limits of the laws of physics, the bass response is clean and present. Are the MM 220s perfect in absolute terms, no-- highs could be brighter with sharper edges. But back to bass, BA has done wonders in this area, the bass response coming from such a tiny space on these PC speakers is remarkable. Neal Peart's work can be well appreciated with these MM 220's. In another genre, John Modlin sounds magical on these, too. Like I'm in a lounge chair in the same studio live. The MM 220's will be on my personal machine in my basement shack. I don't care for hearing loss or damage, and I have finally discovered the joy of RUSH at lower listening volumes thanks to these MM 220's. The MM-220's at loud levels sound grrrrreat too, but like I said I'll now be able to appreciate every nuance of my favorite band, with every sound and every note clearly present. The MM 220's produce high fidelity sound at any listening level. I've never encountered PC speakers that did not suffer distortion at maximum volume before these. So special thanks to Boston Acoustics, E.Expo, and Amazon for the new pleasant experience.

Good job matching the amp to the speakers, Boston. If you buy these, always remember these are 2.0 speakers. If you do, and if you're intended purpose is clean, robust, well defined sound while sitting at your desk at amplitudes that won't cause hearing damage, the MM 220's are brilliant and an excellent choice. Nice, refined implementation. If you want to rock the house with them, a reality check is in order- these are 2.0 PC speakers! I'm going to order another for the TV. So I'll be stopping by Radio Shack on the way home for a 3.5mm female to RCA male Y adapter. But- for 30 bux plus shipping, from Electronics Expo, Boston Acoustic MM 220's broke the needle on the Awesomeness scale. They arrived within 3 days via standard UPS, more kudos for Electronics Expo.Yeah, I know. I didn't move the sub off the floor. The 2.0 suits my needs better, and these provide a more balanced sound than the smaller satellites of the 2.1. Do the sound as good as a quality microsystem (I own JVC)? No. Is the sound decent for computer speakers? Oh, yeah. They are more than decent. Understand, they will sound like computer speakers. If I really want to rock out, I move up to the micro or my full size system. Please don't try to compare these speakers to a quality pair of small bookshelf speakers. Apples and oranges, folks. You will be disappointed. Finally, don't try to improve the quality of your computer audio with new speakers if you still play MP3s. The MM220 will point out the limitations of compression at even 320kbps. Hence, the distortion at higher levels. Plus, try turning off the equalizer on applications such as Windows Media Player. The explanation is too technical, but just do it. Contrary to popular belief, speakers are usually not the cause of distortion. Thank you for considering my opinion. Warning: The transformer is actually the size of a standard brick. Not really designed to be portable to take with your laptop.

If you want something that produces amazing sound quality and bass, by BOSE or even Boston's that are meant to be true at home computer speakers. I bought these recognizing that they are just an upgrade to laptop speakers. There is enough bass to make me happy and the sound quality is great for what they are meant to do. If you are looking for something to blow you away, don't buy these. But, the people at work like them as much as I do when we have some free time to sit down and watch a movie. And, they are small enough I can store them in my locker at work without having to haul them with me back and forth. BOSE is my favorite, but for the price I think these Boston's were a great purchase. In order to navigate out of this carousel please use your heading shortcut key to navigate to the next or previous heading. Thang Nguyen 5.0 out of 5 stars The subwoofer, although heavy, has a fantastic design. I personally believe that it's a very designer look to it. Also with the ability to change the color of the grille (at a cost), it's also a welcomed addition. When it comes to the sound and performance, this is one of the best I've heard. Not only is it loud, but the sound also comes out very clean and clear and not muffled. This subwoofer also has the ability to vibrate my couch and I sit 10 feet away from the subwoofer. The 300 Watts RMS is more than enough power in my book. I also own a HPS-10HO (see my review on the HPS-10HO page), and never would I buy another subwoofer if Boston Acoustics continually produces such a great product.I love the precision of their sound, the quality of their construction and components, and their value. The HPS12HO met these expectations and more. I like the fact that it has an automatic power mode where it detects whether it's getting input and then powers itself on and off, silently and seamlessly, as needed. This works well if you have a variety of sources. Output is crisp and clear with no distortion up to painful volumes. Even though it's not down-firing, the sound is totally non-directional and it goes down to low enough frequencies (with no noticable drop-off until about maybe 28Hz) that you can really feel the bass, which is what you want. This is a great product! It is VERY well balanced bass. There is entirely NO distortion, or garbled vibrations.

The exterior of the cabinet is made of the same materials as the HS 450's are.It looks pretty nice and it's really powerful, I only used it as indicated by the manual (turning it to 11 o'clock), certainly not even near its full potential, still when I tried TLOR DVD, my house is shaking. It certainly adds to all the fun of watching a great movie. And the price at Onecall, great!I got a defective one and had to exchange it from One Call. They do not even want to pay for shipping (Amazon nor One Call) for an exchange. The bass is really deep but not overpowering (unless you want it to be) and completely distortion free. I don't know how I ever had a home theater without it.
