Jindrich Zapletal 4.0 out of 5 stars The ease and speed of a pneumatic tool would have been an expensive overkill. There is a ratchet mode that allows driving the cleats with multiple short blows.

I had to practice for some time before getting the gist of it, but after that nearly every cleat was driven perfectly. The two hex keys that came with the tool did not fit, but I did not need to use them anyway.I used the recommended supplies it just didn’t seem to help.As long as you don’t mind inhaling it every now and then.No misfires. No problems. Nice storage case. The ratcheting feature makes driving cleats much easier than by single blow: one tap to set the cleat and then a quick slam to drive it home. In the beginning the operation seems a little hard and tiring but that’s more a matter of technique than anything else. Once you feel confident about the swing of the hammer, it goes along quite easily. I’m happy that I bought this tool instead of renting. My flooring project took a while and I didn’t feel rushed in having to get a tool back before rental costs accumulated. If you're an amateur installer I would definitely recommend this. A few suggestions--on your first course near the wall, only use a half-stack of nails so you can get closer to the wall without hitting it; keep an eye on how well the nail is driven in so that the next course fits tightly (you will have a nail set with you at all times); use a piece of plywood when nearing the end wall so that you don't wreck the wall swinging the hammer. I jammed it once about 100 nails in (my fault) and it was easy enough to take apart and clear the jam. Living room and hall are done, the bedroom is next!Would easily purchase again and would highly recommend. The one thing I would mention is be ready to REALLY hit it in order to drive the nail. I'm 6'2, 230lbs and a former college wrestler. The amount of effort to drive a nail in some cases was very difficult.I used the ratchet setting (I couldn't hit it hard enough to drive the cleat home in one hit). I would use one hit to drive the plunger in about two thirds of the way and then a second (harder) hit to drive it home.

http://www.houseplanarchitect.com/userfiles/bounty-hunter-platinum-manual-ground-balance.xml

To keep the nailer from jamming, don't let it move between the two hits. To do that I kept my left foot on the back right corner of the nailer (I'm right handed). My arm did get tired, but I'm very happy with the results.Other than that I think it is safer than the ones with air pump. I only use it to install my own hardwood floor. It serves the need well. The ratcheting action makes it much easier to put down the floor, especially in tough areas when you get closer to the wall. Occasionally it will misfire and its a pain to pull out the nail, but this is not frequent. If you have a big project and do not want to rent a nailer or don't want to purchase the whole pneumatic kit, then I recommend this product.Only the last run has to be nailed through the top of the board (which can then be hidden under the skirting board). I started in ratchet mode (keep hitting the nailer until the mail is fully driven. The mallet is soft enough to tamp boards into place before nailing, without damage. Eric V. 5.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't mark the flooring. Used the ratcheting mode. The trick is to make the first hit with confidence. If you hit lazily, it will lead to a jam. Most brands of nail gun, staple gun or screw gun offer a standard one-year manufacturer's warranty. Some brands go above and beyond, offering additional protection for their product owners. If you are looking for a lifetime guarantee, Quik Drive stands behind their screw gun attachments with their limited-lifetime warranty. While it only covers the attachment (motors generally come with one year of coverage), it demonstrates the quality and durability representative of these products. Bostitch and Freeman Tools offer seven-year warranties on many of their nailers and staplers, and Senco offers a five-year warranty on its XP line of pneumatic tools. It's ultimately up to the manufacturer to determine whether or not the owner has taken the necessary measures to ensure their tool was properly cared for prior to failure. In almost all instances, this rules out accidental damage or undue abuse. For example, if the nailer was left outside permanently and exposed to harsh conditions as a result, it could void your warranty coverage. Likewise, if a roofing nailer is dropped from a two-story roof, coverage would most likely be voided as well. Making alterations to a tool is another way to void its warranty. Maintain your tools per the manufacturer's specifications, see that they are not misused or abused, and have them serviced at the first sign of trouble. Some manufacturers offer the ability to register your tool online, which helps to confirm the range of time your warranty is valid. Save your sales receipts and keep your tool's service records on-hand if applicable. If you stick to these rules, your nailer, stapler or screw gun should provide many years of reliable service. Get insight from the professionals, when you learn the do's and don'ts in home remodeling, here on the Nail Gun Network. It's important to be comfortable with your choices, but being too indecisive can ultimately put the brakes on a renovation project.

Likewise, be careful not to backtrack by making major changes mid-project. Making changes after materials have been purchased and installed can be costly, adding unnecessary expense. The real decision ultimately hinges on your level of comfort. If you are an avid DIYer, you might prefer to shop for your own materials to guarantee 100 percent control over cost. Most contractors will mark up the materials they purchase - however, letting someone else take care of procuring materials can be much more convenient, and will better ensure correct items are purchased on the first try. When a homeowner starts thinking about renovating, they don't often think about the hidden problems that demolition might uncover. Rotten wood, mold, faulty electrical, and other structural imperfections are all very common risks that remodeling can uncover. To ensure these issues can be repaired properly, it's important to set funds aside ahead of time. Most recommend setting at least an additional 5 percent of your overall budget aside. This makes it easier for a contractor to move around without disrupting occupants. It also makes it easier for the homeowner to live comfortably. Sometimes, a costly renovation does not leave the option to live elsewhere. If this is the case, try to find a comfortable retreat away from the hustle and bustle of construction. More often than not, if you don't have a firm understanding of what you are doing, a contractor will end up getting involved anyway - fixing mistakes. Some projects are more complex than others, so know your limitations from the start. For many DIYer's taking on their first big remodel, consider consulting with a contractor as you move through the motions of your project - even if you do most of the labor yourself. For advice on the tools to take on your remodeling project, consult the Nail Gun Network or contact a specialist at Nail Gun Depot !

One of the most recognized cordless finish and trim nailers in its class, the Senco Fusion packs innovation, technology and power - all in one handy cordless tool. Find out why you should try Senco Fusion - here on the Nail Gun Network. A tool that is recognized for its features, performance and quality, the Senco Fusion is much more than a basic finish tool, it's a new way of doing construction. Take a look: With a quick-charge system in place, you can renew 80 percent of your battery charge in only 15 minutes. Drive up to three nails per second with no waiting period! Snap the battery into place, and you are ready to nail a range of applications from finish and trim, to baseboards, cabinets, paneling and more. We hope you had a relaxing holiday break - but alas, it's time to get back to work. Easing into the routine swing, let's start 2015 with a breakdown and categorization of air compressors - so you can find the right compressor to handle your projects. Air compressors provide power to your pneumatic nail guns, staple guns, paint sprayers, ratchets and other air-driven tools - they can also be used to inflate tires, blow dust or debris, and more. The application(s) you need an air compressor for, will determine the type of compressor you require. Air compressors feature a motor, which forces air into a storage tank. Depending on the type of compressor, a user will attach their tool(s) to the compressor via an air hose or hoses. Every time the user fires their pneumatic tool, air in the storage tank is released through the air hose - activating the tool. As the storage tank depletes its air, the motor kicks-in and returns the tank to a designated air pressure. For some compressors an expansion tank is also available. Single-stage compressors feature one-piston motors, which force air into their storage tank for consumption. As the compressor depletes its supply of air, the motor kicks back on to replenish it.

These compressors are typically useful for small workshops, residential garages, or DIY applications. Because they are typically smaller in size, they are also useful for renovation and remodeling projects, where space might be limited. Keep in mind, these compressors are not designed to power multiple tools at once - or tools that require a good amount of energy to fire, such as framing nailers. Finish and trim nailers and fine wire staplers are typically intended for this type of compressor. Two-stage air compressors feature a second piston - providing quicker refill times to the storage tank. The storage tank is also typically larger in size, allowing more air to be stored during use. Two-stage compressors are also designed to power multiple tools at once - improving operation efficiency. The downside to these compressors, they typically weigh more, are more expensive, and make more noise during operation. Every manufacturer should provide the CFM and PSI required to operate safely. The CFM or Cubic Feet per Minute determines how many tools can be run at once on an air compressor. The PSI or Pounds per Square Inch directs the maximum range of operating pressure with which an air compressor can run properly. When selecting an air compressor, choose a model with a higher CFM rating than the tool or tools you are planning to operate - this will allow for a margin of error. Depending on your application, there are four main designs available for portable air compressors. Generally, the most basic option available, most hot dog shaped compressors have small, cylindrical tanks - this style is generally the easiest to transport, but offers the least power. Models such as the Senco PC1010 exemplify a well-built, popular compressor within this segment. Similar in size, a pancake compressor features an oblong tank that resembles the shape of a tire.

Bostitch offers the BTFP02011 pancake compressor (replaced by Bostitch BTFP02012 ) as part of a 3-tool combo kit for finish and trim. Still capable of being carried by hand, twin-stack compressors feature two tanks (generally one above the other), which allows them to restore maximum air pressure quicker than a single-tank design, such as the hot dog or pancake. One of the heaviest-duty designs for portable compressors, wheelbarrow compressors are too heavy to carry by hand, but feature a single-wheel design with handles - allowing this type of compressor to be rolled from jobsite to jobsite. J-Air is a reliable, popular manufacturer of this style compressor. For fixed workstations that require high-volume use, stationary compressors are also available. There is also a selection of other wheeled compressors available for heavy-duty use, that function similarly to the wheelbarrow design. For almost every hot dog, pancake or twin-stack compressor, electric power is your only available option. However, larger compressors, such as wheelbarrow models, generally are available with either the option for gasoline or electric power. Crews in new construction tend to favor gas power, as it can sometimes be hard to find electric on a jobsite. Many gas-powered compressors also feature more powerful motors. Depending on the application - and if electric is easily accessible - you might prefer the emission-free design of electric compressors though. Many compressors include this feature out of the box, but if not, you could have a hard time starting your air compressor in frigid temperatures. Standard on many new compressors, an oil-free pump design reduces wear and tear maintenance. For high-volume use, check to make sure the compressor includes more than one connection for pneumatic air hoses - to ensure you can run several tools at once.

Also, make sure the compressor has the proper cooling systems installed to handle the applications you plan to use it for - this will help to avoid overheating or damage to the compressor motor. There are several reliable brands available, some of which we recommend, including compressors from Senco, RolAir, J-Air, MAX and Bostitch. Be sure to compare each compressor's features prior to making a purchase. A time to celebrate, reflect and look toward the future.
