It comes with a battery (nice). And there is a small, but seemingly complete user's manual that comes with it (as well as ads and registration stuff). I don't own a lot of pedals (this makes two), but it seems well made and sturdy. I purchased this with the idea of playing around with rhythm, bass and lead tracks without the cumbersome method of actually using a recorder, etc. As some reviewers have mentioned, it's worth reading the little manual. I can lay down a rhythm loop and then come back and overdub the bass. Then I can drop a lead line (what I want to learn how to do - play some lead) on top of that - not recording the lead, but just trying different things. Setting up to use it takes seconds, so it's really convenient. I also like having some privacy to mutilate lead lines without embarrassment. It took a little practice (about 20 minutes of messing around) to get down the timing so the loop is seamless (or at least close enough that I don't notice). It's fun. I started playing with it and a few moments later I realized an hour had already passed. I think it's a winner.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Now, I'll be the first to admit, intuitiveness is subjective and as an 'older' musician, perhaps I don't find things as intuitive as some of the young guns out there. But, I would use it a lot more if it were more straight forward. That said, it is built to Boss' standards that I rely on when I purhcase a Boss product. Doesn't feel like some cheap POS that will stop working because it hit the floor. You could argue that these devices aren't made for that, but, lets get real, if you are playing regularly, then your going to be hauling your gear all over and this device, like any other, could be dropped, rolled over, stepped on, etc at any point.
You don't need a problem at a show last minute because of some botique quality device losing a knob or something because someone sneezed too closely to it. No, this is another solid solution from Boss. The features: There are a lot of drums beats to choose from and they can easily be changed into a different tempo if they are not as fast or as slow as you would like them to be.If you want to record clean sounds with the pedal then thats ok. But if you want to use distorted guitar sounds you need a distortion pedal to go before the pedal or else the drums will distort. So if you plan on buying this pedal to record rock songs you might want to invest in a distortion pedal. This pedal is the closest thing i have to having someone else to play with. It's also a great tool for learning songs that have more than one guitar. You just gotta record each guitar but that doesn't matter because its a whole lot of fun anyway. The first couple of minutes with this pedal might seem confusing and maybe frustrating for others. But after about 20 minutes or so you really start to get the hang of it and what it can do. The only problem i've had with this pedal is that right from the start the AUX input didn't work,forgivable this time because a lot of my amps and stuff already have AUX inputs.

Please try again It does take some getting used to, but with practice and patience you can be your own living room band or great stage enhancement. Its a must for hot lickers wanting to work on there scales, or studio practice on multilayering tracts. There could have been some user friendly options. The drum tracts only progress forward when choosing which one you want so if you skip over one you have to tap through the other 40 to get back to the one you wanted. It would have better application if you could back to back record tracts to build in a bridge thus completing a fully recorded song, however this can be done on other recording devices looped into this unit. I couldn't afford it (in college at the time) and we had to return it. I spent the next 4 years wishing I had it back, and finally bought it again about 9 months ago. I hooked up my electric guitar laid down a track, than plugged in my microphone and put it near the sound hole on my acustic,than sang into the microphone, and had so much fun. However, after attempting to learn how to use the RC-2, I remain frustrated. My 13 year old grandson even tried to help, following the manual ( which you have to hold close to your face to read- and it's not just my eyesight), but we were unsuccessful. My biggest issue is with the guide (drum) patterns. There are 33 of them and no indicator as to which one you are on. Beyond that, I still haven't figured out how to save a guide pattern to one of the 11 Phrase Select locations. I emailed the tech support people asking for help and never did hear back from them. In summary, it's just possible that the manual does not coordinate with my brain. I will admit that I'm not cutting edge technically savvy, but I'm not technically ignorant either. I can operate my laptop, digital camera, cell phone, and GPS. This however, is stumping me. Please try again The only real problem is learning how to use it. It is a bit tricky and requires a lot of experimentation and tinkering with. My main suggestion regarding this is not to lose the manual. You would be lost without it. One nuisance is navigating through the built in drum beats. But, since the unit is just a small pedal, they were forced to give some buttons multiple functions and is quite understandable and forgivable. I use an octaver to record a bass line then the rhythm guitar track and I'm ready to go.
To take it a step further you can load a full composition onto the pedal, minus the parts you want to play yourself. Achieving the right loudness takes a couple of tries but once you get it, you can save it as a one shot meaning it will play once in it's entirety and stop, instead of like loop. Very useful. So, I give this pedal five stars as a practice tool. Now onto a live situation. If you use it to play uploaded backing tracks for a small gig that doesn't require a lot of volume it will sound decent if your mix was done well. If you use the pedal's drumbeats live, your music will sound way too repetitious and artificial due to the simplicity and the sound quality of the beats. Furthermore, if you like to improvise or switch around the order of the parts of a piece or create a piece in a live situation, this pedal is too limited and does not possess the option of recording various independent tracks over the same beat that you can switch between. So that's why I would give it four stars for live use. Of course this doesn't stop it from being a great practice tool and jamming companion that won't give you attitude or empty your fridge every time he comes over. But seriously, your guitar playing and creativity will definitely improve with this looper. That alone makes it worthwhile. Now, that might all seem more complicated than; Guitar - Boss RC-3 - Guitar amp but if you are using this with an audio interface and get the chain order wrong, your looper pedal will not operate correctly.
