I learned how to do this 20 years ago from a 80 year old woman from england. If it is really bad you can up the vinegar concentration but do not go higher than 2 cup to 1. One of the easiest things to do is to pour out the water and add white vinegar. Let the vinegar sit for about 2 hours. Then turn on the iron and press the steam button until the deposits are loosened and flushed by the heat and steaming vinegar. Start here When you're ironing, limescale from your iron can create brown stains on your clothes. These stains can be difficult to get out, so it's important to prevent limescale buildup. In this article, I'll explain why it's important and what you can do about it. That could inhibit the flow in the iron or leave brown stains on your laundry. You can prevent this by descaling your iron every 3 months. That way, the steam output remains powerful and your steam iron or steam generator will last longer. I'll explain each system, so you'll know what to do to keep your iron or steam generator free from limescale. That means all you have to do is select the right program. Check your iron's manual to read how to start the descaling program and the iron will do the rest. The cartridge is part of the iron or steam generator and can be removed. A cartridge lasts about 3 months on average, and you'll need to replace it yourself. Your steam iron or steam generator's manual will tell you how that's done. You can descale your iron by emptying this container and cleaning it. Rinse the limescale collector and put it back. Do this every 3 months to keep your steam iron or steam generator free of limescale. Do you iron more often than 3 times a week or do you live in an area with hard water (3dH or higher). Please try again Initially I encountered similar issues to other reviewers, where the empty water light kept flashing and the iron would not function despite it being full of water. Following another reviewers' advice, I shock the iron vigorously several times and eventually it registered the fact that there was water available. The first time I used the iron on a huge load of washing it was fine, smooth and quick to iron. However, the second time I attempted to use it water started to run from the steam holes, making clothing very wet and not really ironing anything. The next morning we discovered the breville sitting in a pool of water, the water tank had leaked!! I spoke with the manufacturer to see if there was something that we had done to cause this,all I got was a curt 'return to where I had made the purchase' end of conversation!. So I duly contacted Amazon who offered me an immediate replacement or refund, so we decided on a replacement as initial impressions were good. At this stage I have to say that the Amazon return procedure was first class, I printed off the necessary documentation and return label and dropped it off at my local SPAR supermarket - really easy no having to wait at busy post office. The replacement duly arrived and was hastily set up for use, the next morning.same as before half the tank had leaked.

Please try again To be fair, I had been told how wonderful these irons are in general, how they really slash the time taken to do the job - my expectations therefore, were fairly high. Maybe, they are just the trendy thing to have at the moment, but that does not interest me. I have been extremely disappointed. The main problem is that the de-scaling cartridge needs to be replaced very frequently. There seems to be only one supplier of these cartridges, and their prices are extremely high. The alternative is to use deionised water, but with the copious volume of water used either option proves to be uneconomical. The second problem is the noise of the pump. I find the only way to deal with the boredom of ironing is to watch something worthwhile on TV at the same time. The water flows through the Anti-calcium cartridge but it goes no further. I e-mailed the company (using the site adress found in the instructions that were included in the package) but a week has passed and i received no answer. If i was living in U.K. this product would be returned to amazon. Or so I thought until the filter warning light went off. After much looking on line and the Breville website it turns out that the ONLY place to get a replacement filter is via Breville's approved vendor and they only take payment by cheque. No online ordering and no credit card details over the phone - what century are they in?? So this means that it's going to take over a week to get the replacement filter. Marvellous !! If I'd known that when I was looking to buy I would have bought another brand. So, if you do decide to buy this iron and live in a hardwater area buy a replacement filter straight away and save the wait from the parts company stuck in the 1950s.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again However, the downsides I have found are - protective cord frayed very quickly where the steam pipes leave the steam generator (although the unit is still safe to operate) - anti-calc cartridges don't last long and are around ?8 each, available by post from the company Breville use in the UK for spares who only accept cheques by post rather than card on the phone - from the start the water pump is very noisy - the unit has conked out two weeks after the year's warranty expired I am definitely buying a replacement steam generator iron - but it won't be a Breville.

Please try again Was excited as most people swear by this type of ironing system. This steam iron is quite good but its main problem is the amount of noise the pump generates. I am a person that gets irritated by noises and this is the biggest down feature of this product. I have read a review that says it gets better so I certainly hope so. I was fortunate that I got it at a very good price. Also feel that it does use a lot of water and the room becomes very steamy. It cooked a little slower than some machine so it’s the perfect cooker for those out of the house all day at work etc or for whatever reason need long cooking times with great results I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone wanting a next level slow cooker with extra features and great cooking results. I’ve never experienced this before in any slow cooker I’ve owned so not sure it’s working correctly. Should the slow cooker make clicking noises as it seems to every minute or so, maybe even a little less. Not sure if it the thermostat or if it’s faulty and therefore not heating properly. My 2nd one is working fine so far, I’ve cooked 2 meals on low but the power can still only be switched off at the power point when the manual says to depress Start button for 3 seconds.
