Disconne ct the other cab le from its speake r, and connect that end of th e cable to t he speaker th at does not p lay. If th e speaker still does not pl ay, the prob- lem is in t he speaker. Connect i t to the other outp uts on the amplifie r. If the speaker plays, t he problem is in the origin al cable that was co nne cted to th at speake r.

I have an older Lifestyle system with support for two zones. The output for the first zone runs to a powered sub-woofer which in turn runs to the 5 surround sound speakers. I now have the second zone run to this amplifier which outputs to Bose speakers in another room (on another floor of the house in fact). This gives me the ability to control the music to each room independently and each room can use the same or different sources, meaning I could listen to iTunes from one room and the cd player from the other since both run into the receiver. Combine that with the great RF remotes that work through walls and I now have music on a different floor of my house from where the receiver and amp are.The setup was a piece of cake. The amp comes with the proprietary Bose cables to run from the receiver. After plugging in the cable from the receiver, hooking up the speaker wires, and setting the dip switches to pair the remote, I was ready to go in about 15 minutes from opening the box. The sound output is great. Even when cranking it, the quality doesn't degrade whether listening to horns, strings, or vocals. Of course having good speakers with it is key, but the amp has shown itself to be a strong link in the chain. I already had the original remote from my Lifestyle to control a second zone, and this worked fine.As such, the amp's manual wasn't accurate about the settings for matching the dip switches in the remote with those on the amp. No problem. A quick call to Bose customer service and he was able to talk me through it. Those folks really know their equipment. I described the symptom that some of the buttons on the remote weren't working correctly, and he immediately knew that I had an older system and how I needed to fix it. It's so satisfying when you find that great products are backed by equally great customer service. Overall a great product from a great company.Just remember you MUST use a dedicated Lifestyle expansion remote control (sold separately).
This amplifier is fairly small, but due to the internal electrical components, it does have some weight. The 8 pound unit can just sit on the floor or a shelf. The important point is you can hook ANY normal speakers to a set of speaker jacks on the back of the unit.So far everything is working great and sounds really good.Very disappointed. They could at least be honest and test it.THe one problem is that the description doesn't tell you that you HAVE TO have a remote control (Purchased Seperately) to make this unit work.
