Reload to refresh your session. Learned two things: 1. Too much. My machine is less than a year old so I called the authorized Bosch repair service. ( I have replaced pumps in washers, but hey it still under warranty).. I have tried running the drain cyle and that doesn't work either. Hello, Welcome to FixYa.I did all the troubleshooting things in the manual and spoke to a Bosch technician over the. Hopefully the info below will supply you with the assistance to get the door open for now at least.and a little more with some luck. The door. I closed it again, preceded to select a wash cycle, an E started flashing on. Answer questions, earn points and help others. Send a Houzz Gift Card. It has worked well for years, but today there was a loud 'snap' while filling, then the water flow briefly paused, then resumed, but the drum stopped turning while filling, and there was a strong burning smell, like electrical insulation burning. I called Bosch, and the rep there said to remove the access panel, and there would be another cover plate behind that, and to take a pen, press in a hole, turn the cover clockwise, remove it, and look for a clip with wires attached. Unplug it, and the door lock would open. And what might have shorted out in my washer. I wonder if it's fixable. Under that same round access cover laying next to the pump is a draw string release cable to allow the latch to be released. Just pull the cable which resembles fishing line. I'd like to look at it, though I'll probably call a repairman anyway. I took the back cover off, thinking that I might see where there was a short (melted insulation?), but nothing obvious that I could see. I wonder if the motor just burned out. I'm asking for help as far as the layout of appliances and cupboards. We do not want to move walls.

I coud then have room for a cooktop on that sink wall. Is this a good idea. The sink and window would therefore not be centered in the kitchen, would this matter. If I move the sink and window to accomodate a cooktop on that counterspace. It seems like it'd be cumbersome to have it opposite the sink with the island inbetween?. If it stays on that short back wall, is it too far from the sink, if I move the sink down?? And where is best spot for a wall oven. This is what my family has come to expect, as we are not a formal family. The dining room is too small for all of us so we set up extra tables in the foyer and its kinda fun and cozy. I imagine our new house to be similar, except my island will be much bigger and I'm excited about that. On a daily basis, just my husband and I dont need seating on the long end of the island. Exterior work was needed too, so compromises were inevitable. Being a geeky sort, I had lists for each function and factors to consider and rank. Stealing some space from the kitchen to expand a powder room to a 3-quarter bath and build a main floor laundry, meant there wasn't room for a wall oven. The Blue Star electric would have been a contender if there had been room. Love, love, love my red Blue Star - now. The first couple of times I used the oven, I burned the bottoms of everything. The oven was heating 50F higher than indicated. Now that I'm retired, I bake more. I'm sooo tempted. Are you going to talk me down from the ledge or tell me to go for it?.See More TINY kitchen layout ideas Q Comments (58) New cabinetry of course. IF you can remove the bulkhead, get uppers which reach the ceiling if the current uppers don’t offer enough storage. Get a step stool if necessary. An undermount sink will give you a few more inches of counter and will make it much easier to clean around the sink. I like my backsplash to run up to the upper cabinets.
If possible, have the outlet over the stove moved out of sight unless it is the only above-counter outlet in the kitchen. Unless you are planning to remove the cabinets currently above the fridge, you will be limited to the height that the current fridge is, or less, in order to fit that space. Fridges today tend to be taller than your older fridge. You can go online at websites like ajmadison, and search fridges by height. Remember to include the door hinges at the top. After you have found fridges that will fit height-wise, then you can narrow them down by brand. Final notes - you definitely do not need to match brands to your stove. Also Bertazzoni that you pictured is a company known almost entirely for its ranges, and lately those have declined in quality. They are not really a refrigerator manufacturer the way Bosch and the Whirlpool companies are, so I would avoid. And, say no to a pot filler in your kitchen..See More fordtech 5 years ago It was on a service tech website that you have to be a member of. You may find it just doing an internet search. I loved the Bosch, but I don't like spending so much money on something that doesn't last a really long time, and is very expensive to fix. I do not recommend this washer. I bought this model because it is supposed to be extremely energy efficient and eco friendly, along with many washing and spinning options that the traditional top loading washing machine doesn’t have. I don’t understand the point to this when one has a choice in water temperatures. Why not just select cold water wash with heavy duty wash instead of using the Eco-e button. Its seems a pointless function that sounded good at the store marketing level but was not what I expected for real life use. My BIGGEST complaint with this machine is the cycle time. I have used other high end front loading washers at friends’ houses before and owned one of the first generation models and in comparison, this one takes forever.
If you select the “XX sanitizing” feature, which washes towels and linens in extra hot water to make sure they are as clean as can be, expect an extra hour for the cycle. The cycle time is displayed right on the machine, and imagine my shock when I realized it was going to take 2 hours and 7 minutes to wash my towels. The only way you can wash anything for less than 57 minutes is by using the quick 25 minute wash feature which only uses cold water. This is fine for my lightly soiled clothing I have worn only once but I wash a lot of towels and linens and work clothes and waiting at least an hour for each load really takes a lot of time. I also find that the spin cycle does not get as much water out of the clothes as other models and so far I have seen no reduction in drying time with the matching Bosch dryer. I am really disappointed with this machine because I bought a front loader around 8 years ago and had expected that a machine this expensive and of a newer generation would perform better but it does not. The only difference with this machine and the older generation of front loaders is the cycle selections. There are many more choices regarding spin time, wash time and temperature but they all add more minutes to each cycle. While I want to use less water and energy to clean my laundry, I also expect the new line of machines to be quicker and spin better than their previous counterparts. The one thing I do give Bosch credit for with this line is the nice array of colors. We have the smelly laundry problem, especially noticeable when you put a clean towel to your face after a shower; the towel smells of that musty, sour moldy odor. Now, the fabric softener dispenser won't flush out during the wash cycle and there is standing water and product in it after doing a load. It is not plugged as I checked and cleaned it thoroughly. If you tip the dispenser forward slightly, the water drains out.
Also, on the European versions, you can select to spin only, say for a hand-washed article, but the American models don't have that feature. Very annoying as my wife (a European) hand-washes and spins woolens and lays them flat to dry; it avoids a lot of expensive dry-cleaning. Yes a longer wash cycle but does all the laundry it need and with less dryer time and uses less water. When I am done with a load I leave the door open. Never had mold or any smell issues. There should have been a RECALL by Bosch. I'm going to due the leg work to find a lawyer to take on this problem.Web searched after new reports on front loaders and mold. While I don't have mold issues, I don't recommend and would not rebuy Bosch. I have had the unexplained errors mentioned, poor spinning, looooong cycle times, useless functions I've never used, minor hardly noticeable energy savings in my house. I don't live in a humid climate and my husband and I always leave the washer door open after use to let the air circulate.it seems to have worked as I did a thorough mold inspection this a.m. It does not spin my clothes out. They are still pretty we when wash finishes. This machines sucks. I do not recomment to anyone.I also hate that this washer takes over an hour to wash my clothes. It constantly throws the E:02 error code, sometimes as much as six times during the 25 minute cycle. Yes, I've removed the front panel, unscrewed the drain plug, soaked up four towels worth of water only to see.NOTHING clogged or dirty. Yes, I've also checked the hoses for kinks, and blockages, there are NONE. Hate it so much, I'm really considering using it for target practice before they take it away and deliver my new TOP loader Whirlpool. Bosch got the only money they will ever get from me. Errors E02 every other load. Loads are small, medium or large. Washer is level. Going to bite the bullet and get a standard mechanical top loader. Mildew, clothes twisted into knots, water left in the tub.
Busy mom with no time for costly, poorly engineered products. Love my Bosch stove but they can have the washer back! RTFM and enjoy what you paid for:-) We have had them for at least 5 years and never have had a problem. Maybe we get different models here in Canada. Clothes smell, washer smells. Wonderful when you have guests and have nothing to offer them but stinky towels. It takes a day to wash sheets since they become wadded into a ball and the sensor cannot tell if they are dry and you must monitor the sheets to turn the dryer on numerous times. AGGGGHHHHH -- Class action suit? However, after purchasing the washer and dryer combo have totally changed my mind about Bosch. We have had the repairman out several times because the washer doesn't spin out completly, and there are also times that I have to hold the washer down while it runs and shakes through the spin cycle. We were told to put throw rugs down on either side of the washer to prevent the machine from ruining the woodwork and trim on the laundry room floor and cabinet. Not an answer, but so far, that's all we've gotten after 3 visits from the certified repairman. We it bought as replacement to our 12 yr old Maytag and have been upset with spending such a large amount of money on such a poorly functioning washer. Often items need to washed twice to clean properly and we always have to run the extra rinse cycle. The supposed savings in energy and water never materialized and if you want to wash a pair of jeans the washer will not spin. Will never buy anything by Bosch manufactured by Bosch again. Also, I get an error message if I wash too many towels. If the machine isn't getting the water out of the clothes, try cleaning this hose. I have also had the dryer repaired about 3 times because it stops heating. It is also very squeaky. I wouldn't buy another Bosch. I am hearing very bad evaluation of both, especially of the dryer.

What I do not understand, only reading all negative comments on this site, that nobody so far has launced a class action against the Bosh company. This is extremely profitable company which produces a lot of other expensive items, well beyond home appliances. If only 50 is true what people write about this company home appliances, a class action should be taken and force this company either close their shop or return people the money they spent on their defective products. I wonder why some lawyers do not pursue an action against the Bosh company. They can make a lot of money as thousands of people cannot lie, the machines can be tested by experts to confirm or dispel the negative evaluations. If a car company had produced such defective products, there would be a recall or any punitive action against it. Pls help me understand while the Bosh company can continue producing something that does not serve its purpose, costs a lot of money and insults the intelligence of ordinary people. Many thanks. Plugged back in, still had code. Turned to off. Sat here for awhile, reading comments. Went back to machine opened door, then shut harder. Machine works fine again. I pour a little vinegar across both softener and bleach dispenser frequently, and in summer after I have washed a load and removed clothes. Also wipe out gasket and as much water as I can find, both in the soap dish and inside machine all around the door. Keeping my fingers crossed, these sound like very touchy machines. I have had mine two years now and no problems, but missed out on buying the extended warranty, something everyone should do. I purchased the machine about 3 years ago along with an extended warranty, but thought that I'd never have to use it because it was a high-end quality machine. The machine also has serious timing problems. Most of the time, it takes me about 2 hours to wash 1 load. At its worst, it has taken me over 3 hours to complete 1 load.
So, I try to just spin, which is not possible on this machine. Also, I cannot wash a comforter in this machine, which is really not a good feature of a good machine.Of course after one washes the laundry one has to leave to washer door open so the moisture can evaporate adn it does not get mold or rust, but that should be common sense. The time to wash the washer shows in the beginning is not necessarily the time it needs to wash. According how big the load it, the time gets adjusted during washing. It usually needs less time. The extra sanitary cycle needs 2 hours, but then I am sure my linen is clean. It saves water and energy I am also very happy with the dryer. It dries fast and well. Love it! Recommend it. They are the biggest crap ever, typical US. But that is what you're used to and that is what you should stick to because you can't appreciate the other! It is totally tempermental. I have spells when it will not spin, and then it will suddenly work fine for months. Now, it will begin a cycle and go immediately to spin but it actually does never spin, it only drains and stays stuck. I wish I had just purchased a simpler, less expensive model of washer. Finally after 1 year of the madness, the washer was leaking water underneath. The repairman found the right concrete counterbalance broken off and on the floor of unit; and with the violent vibrations, the boot of the washer ripped, hence, the water seeping underneath the washer. If anyone else has a violent vibration with the spin cycle and the washer is perfectly level, I recommend checking out if the washer is still balanced with the counterbalances. Do it twice as often as they recommend. This should solve mildew problems. 4. Use only HE detergent, period, and do not use too much. The container cap with most brands has fill-to marks, and follow those guidelines. 5. The inlet hoses one uses with washers can split and leak, so when you are done washing, turn off the water supply to those hoses.
That will make them last a longer, and will also eliminate any potential disasters with the washer itself leaking during non-use periods. 6. Clean that lint filter. It should be lint free at the start of any drying load. 7. Use a long, slender vacuum attachment to occasionally clean the recess into where the lint filter normally fits. Use a flashlight to check that area. 8. Make sure that the vent pipe for the dryer is solid metal and not plastic or corrugated metal. Make sure that only two 90-degree elbows are involved. 9. Use a long vacuum cleaner hose (fabricate one if needed) to clean out the pipe from the exit end at least twice a year. 10. Clean the two sensors next to the door on the left side monthly, with vinegar, and wipe them down with your dry fingers after each load. We have had no repair-required problems with our washer, although on a few occasions it has failed to run the selected super-fast spin cycle. Just selecting the spin-only function to give it another try did a quick re-spin at the required speed. The washer does have some issues with the front panel indicator, which seems to have a mind of its own. The time-left function is nearly useless, and the machine rarely runs as long as the indicator states. We have had the dryer serviced twice, both times for it simply failing to start up and work. The work was done under full warranty the first time, but only partially with the second. The dryer has also run too hot on two different occasions, both times with a timed cycle selected. It has not done this with any of the other settings. We never run either machine with nobody in the house, because we want to avoid having either a fire or flood. Once the machines actually start to give us real trouble we will obtain replacements. They will NOT be Bosch models, however. Our house was destroyed by smoke damage. We should have known from the price that there must have been something wrong, as she sold both the washer and dryer to us for the price of one.
I washed my first load of clothes yesterday and was very disappointed that it takes so long to wash items. Lucky for me I was washing large loads, so i didn't have any problems. But I couldn't figure out for the life of me, how to get it to just spin only or to find a cycle that didn't take an hour or longer to wash. I wish I had done my homework on this machine before we purchased it. There's no way, I would have taken it off her hands. Oh well, looks like we'll be making one more purchase sooner than expected. Engineers must wade through a mine field of patents as they design these things - that is the only excuse I can think of for this poor design. I hope Bosch will feel embarassed enough to pay some patent holder a royalty to fix future models, or they will be out of business. It takes forever and I swear my whites are no longer bright. Even bleaching often, my husbands t-shirts look gray. Sometimes the wash does not spin out dry and the only way I have figured to re-spin them is to start the wash all over again. I luckily purchased an extended warranty when I bought the machine 23 months ago. I work away alot, so the machine only gets used about 50 of the time. Each time I was home, I'd have to have the repair guy out. After his 5th trip out and still the fabric dispenser doesn't work, the loads take forever to finish - if they don't stop part way through flashing an error code. Most of the time the cloths don't spin out. I finally today got the okay to get a new machine. Ofcourse, my extended warranty won't replace the full value of the machine. I lose 20 for depreciation - imagine. Just a piece of crap from day 1. So now I'm on here trying to figure out which machine I dare get. I can guarantee you one thing - it won't be a Bosch. In all fairness though. I did own a Bosch front load before and loved it, so I was just stunned when I ran into this problem. Anyhow, I'm gonna keep on looking for what to get. Good luck everyone.
For an entire year I thought I smelled and it was the damn machine. Replaced a motor after having one month. Now the door is locked and the clothes are stuck at the end of the rinse cycle. My suggestion, given all our appliances, is to avoid electronics by all means. Get appliances with mechanical knobs and dials. My mother's stove and refrigerator still work at 50 years.Instead, we got a total piece of junk where Bosch customer service will not stand behind their product even though they know (washer smells and will not operate after water fill)that they have a built in defect as substantiated by countless similar complaints on the internet. There should be a class action suit against such as careless company. Do not buy anything from this company. This is one for the landfill. Bosch sucks! The dryer rolls the blankets and sheets in a ball, which means the center of the ball is wet. As for winkle control? Forget it. We keep the iron handy. The washer control panel is cheap plastic that constantly cracks because of the violent spin cycle. The door is cheap plastic that is also cracking. Now the drain cleanout is leaking and there is nothing in the manual to troubleshoot this. I'm sure I could become an appliance technician after the number of repairs I have done myself on these appliances since the warranty expired. The dryer has a reset button that needs resetting every time a load comes out cold. Stay away from Bosch appliances unless you like repair bills and greif!! I WILL NEVER BUY A BOSCH ANYTHING and would encourage you to do the same. Dirty laundry comes out smelling worse than when it went in.Our 500 front loader is a little over 1 year old, of course out of warranty. I stupidly tried to was a rug by itself and all hell has broke loose. Granted I can accept some responsibility for washing the rug by itself, but the fact that I've waited 2 weeks for the only Bosch repairman in the entire state of GA is just ridiculous.
I never would have purchased a product that is unserviceable. BOSCH customer support, should be renamed customer no support. Even had appliance sales reps contact repairmen that work on the side for extra cash and all said the same thing. I've never seen anything like it. I'll be making a copy of all these complaints. I smell a class action in the making! We had the repairman here within weeks of getting it and the door still doesn't lock unless you push it half a dozen times. The clothes are soaking wet after the spin cycle and neither the dryer light nor the one on the washer go off automatically. You have to go turn it off manually. And they call it energy efficient?!!! We are selling the house that has the LG in it, and I want to keep those machines and get rid of my almost new Bosch. I guess I'll just have to hope the LG lasts longer. I find them to be much more enjoyable to use and the clothes are cleaner much faster! Yes, we have to babysit the washer too: annoying that the E:02 error message beep sounds like the end-of-cycle beep: you think your load is done, go to the basement to check, and you still have an hour to go. But the worst problem I haven't seen here: we don't have the mold problem with the door seal, because we can't keep a door seal intact. As my DH pointed out the other day, once more, and we could have bought another washer by now. The last time, the seal lasted three weeks (it was replaced on Halloween and torn by Thanksgiving). The tear gets bigger and bigger, socks slip through it, water leaks, and then we call them. I have no idea, but I'm at my wit's end. This isn't some yard-sale purchase: I did my research. But I'm really frustrated. Purchased sept. 2009. I still cant get it balanced.Luckily i purchased service contract and had technician come out and professionally balance it.(still shakes bad!)When i called on my lowes warranty they made appointments 2 different days in a row with me and never showed up or called.
