Kindle Customer 5.0 out of 5 stars The pictures and text are very clear. This should be a great resource for anyone restoring a 61-65 VW. Highly recommended and being a reproduction you won't feel too bad if the pages get greasy,It does not have the hand holding chatter that the John Muir book has (also recommended) but goes into great detail of every facet of repair (I mean, even welding body parts). This should be the second or third book you buy if you are maintaining or restoring an old beetle or Karmann Ghia.Of course it assumes some level of auto mechanics knowledge, like what a spark plug is, and what ignition timing means. My only complaint is that they did not print the wiring diagrams in color, which they really should be. One can find the color-coded disgrams elsewhere on the net, but for the price of this book it would is not too much to expect. But, overall, still an excellent manual for this vintage beetle.I needed it for the wiring diagrams, as the garbage Haynes Manual's wiring diagrams are terrible. So far everything I need to know is in it.

Very highly recommended. This manual is a historical record of the illustrations and procedures for routine maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and rebuilding. Every step has pictures and clear instructions for you to follow. Very expensive. Buy this only if you are totally obsessed with VW maintenance. A lot of the special factory tools are almost impossible to find and this dissapointed me quite a bit. As it does not cover later engines, transmissions, etc.Books I would recommend are the later VW model service manuals by Bentley and Haynes and the How To Rebuild book by Tom Wilson. If you want to tune your VW there is Bill Fishers How to Hotrod book which is ancient (1971) but still very relevant to tuning aircooled VWs. If in doubt you can participate in online VW forums and ask questions. Was a two-door, rear-engine economy car, which could hold up to five occupants, that was produced and sold Volkswagen from 1938 until 2003. With 21,529,464 produced worldwide, the Beetle holds the title of being the longest-running, most-manufactured car on a single platform. If you own a VW Beetle, you're a lucky son of a gun. But before you work on your Beetle, double check to see if you have a Volkswagen Beetle workshop manual. The conception of the VW Beetle lies in the sorted history of Nazi Germany. The need for a people's car was seen as being important to Adolf Hitler, who wished for a cheap, functional, utilitarian vehicle to be mass-produced in Germany. However, a small problem called WWII interfered with Hitler's vision of a country populated with VW Beetles. The war shifted production away from automobiles and to military vehicles. The Beetle's Lead engineer Ferdinand Porsche's team took until 1938 to complete the design, which made the main body shell simple and inexpensive make, also known as a unibody design. The result was the first Volkswagen. Although designed in the 1930s, World War II limited the popularity of the Beetle; it wasn't until after the war, that Beetles began being produced for the public in significant numbers. The car was then designated internally as the Volkswagen Type 1 and marketed simply as the Volkswagen. All the models that followed were designated Volkswagen 1200, 1300, 1302, 1303, or 1500. The iconicness of the Beetle led to a significant shift in trend, led by Volkswagen, and then by Fiat and Renault. In 1959 even General Motors debuted a rear-engine car, air-cooled, the Chevrolet Corvair — which also shared the Beetle's flat engine and swing axle architecture. Eventually, FWD and hatchback-bodied cars would come to dominate the small-car market in Europe.
In 1974, Volkswagen's very own FWD Golf surpassed the Beetle. With that said, why don't you stop by and grab yourself a Volkswagen Beetle service manual, today. ExcellentThis book is an absolute must have for any DIY'r with a secong gen Mini. It's totally worth it.I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to work on their car themselves. Especially since there is barely any DIY guides on the internet about mini coopers. Most impressed with electronics sections show where every module and sensor is located with full wiring diagrams. Worth every penny! If it saves me one hour at dealer I break even.already has!Really very good. I bought the Haynes manual too, as it is a fifth of the price, but for the scale of job I'm doing (complete strip down of Gen 2 Mini) this is essentialSpend the extra, so worth it.Expensive but the market is niche.Mir hat jedesmal das Internet deutlich besser geholfen.

Would have given this 5 stars, but some inaccuracies in the manual prevented me from doing that. There is absolutely no need to remove the intake manifold. Even in one of the pictures you can see that the intake manifold is still installed.
