The guide also comes with a giant map of the Mojave with all the detailed locations, which is great. Some for the first time, some to revisit the world and try new builds and new progressions through the game. I think this book would be a great find for anyone interested in this amazing RPG, and used prices are very good. I'm on my first NV playthrough, and this guide and the accompanying map are great. Helps me keep track of locations, factions, crafting recipes and the like without totally spoiling the game. It's well written and fun. I will say that I've read better tutorials on the mini-game Caravan online than the one in this book, but otherwise this book has been invaluable to me as a reference. And I can dive in and just read about what I want without seeing anything that would take away the fun of exploration.I've used Prima's guides for a long time now. If one is found online for free, most likely it has NO pictures and a walkthrough written by what someone else did. They are for help; when someone is stuck, or cannot progress in the game. They also shed some light on additional information one wouldn't normally find while playing. I though Fallout New Vegas was quite short, but I found there was so much more to this game as well. I have both Fallout 3 and New Vegas. I also now have the guides for both. I have played them both one time through; yet haven't accomplished much in the rest of the game. I feel if everything in game was included, then that would ruin it. The plot would be given away, the ending(s) knowns, specials, etc. A bit off topic, I have started fanfiction from both games using gamesaves and the game guides. If I could find or make props for them I might. Heck the game itself is a great conversation piece for like minded people. I suggest looking at the pros before tearing the cons out of something right away. Then make your decision on the item. If you are a fan, it's a great buy much better than any online guide. While it contains a wealth of information related to the weapons, items, and situations in the game, it always keeps on an eye on how to incorporate solid strategy into gameplay; how to make the best use of your chosen talents to maximize your effectiveness; how to handle tough situations. Most importantly, it delves into portions of the game that aren't obvious and explains them in-depth, while leaving more common elements (menus, interface, etc.) lightly covered so there's more room for the stuff strategy guide readers will want (and need) to know. Lots of strategy. Little to no 'fluff'. A shining example of how a strategy guide should be written.Being such a massive game, and such a massive fan of fallout, I finished the first playthrough without this guide. I had it sat on the shelf taunting me but I wanted to try and discover everything I could without this guide.

It was only when I played using this guide that I realised how much stuff I had missed and how many possibilities I hadn't even thought of. Because I have played so much of New Vegas I did end up discovering several things that aren't covered in the guide, and I did find a few discrepancies, stats, quest rewards etc. One thing to note is that this only covers the base game, this is a brilliant guide without a doubt, but the complete guide covers all dlc too and is a similar price. It is complete with all of the necessary info you could need. About 400 pages of detailed explanations for one of the best games ever made for the PS3.Alas, no DLC here as no guides including these seem to exist. Nevertheless, happy hunting! Vincent DeSimone 5.0 out of 5 stars FNV is a BIG game and having a hard copy of the guide to take notes in is a must have. Lots of illustrations, plenty of information. Prima does it right! As for the book itself, it is much better than its predecessor, keeping the same hard cover and art work that made the Fallout 3 guide stand out so much and with silky smooth paper that is way much stronger and tougher than that hideous paper used in the last guide.

I have really no complains about this guide, if you want to master the mojave and have Deathclaws run from you on sight, this is a must have for you, the only reason why I didn't give this guide a five star rating was because the quest section of this guide was not as detail heavy as the Fallout 3 guide like I said before, but overall this is a very nice piece for any collector or achievement hunter. With that said, some of the Maps are confusing without proper lines connecting doorway A with exit B and some maps are missing letters all together. Also the guide assumes you have a bug free game, sadly FO3 has a few issues that are being resolved slowly but surely. The additional pages help you understand the design process behind some of the elements you encounter, good if you are really into the story. If you need just a quick look to get an idea of what you should be doing in a certain place, you don't want to spend an hour reading 25 pages; unfortunately, the included map is almost useless, since there is too much information on it; if the map contained the major game sites only, it would have been more useful. Beware: as always, guides like this have mistakes (for example: you cannot disable the Penthouse Securitrons in the Lucky 38 casino by accessing another terminal in the hidden room), but, for the most part, it was very accurate.Especially with a game like Fallout New Vegas there are lots of nooks and crannies and I always wonder if I got them all. This book has already revealed locations I completely missed earlier in the game. It also comes I handy if you get stuck. Great service and a great book. Who could ask for more? Its information is vast and reasonablly well outlined.

I have identified areas where there is missing or incorrect information which is sometimes confusing and it while it outlines TIPS these are often for something which was mentioned earlier and now missed, so be warned to read the entire quest chain before you do any actions you cannot undo. The map is massive and perfect for a quick reference and overall the book is a good source of info you would otherwise have very little idea about or take a long time to figure out. There are so many locations and places in this game that even the most thorough gamer may miss a few. I know that part of the fun is to find a new area on your own without help from a book, but seriously this helps with the frustration of finding something you've spent hours looking for. It also describes the enemies and items to be found at all the locations. So you know if its worth it to investigate an area or not. Also the book details all the missions, enemies, items and a little back story to the game. The book is well presented with a detailed hardback cover and is over 200 pages and also includes a seperate map pinpointing all locations of interest in the game.I'm really impressed, the attention to detail is first class. They have quick tips on every page to help you with decision making. Even if you don't use it for the walk through section. It makes for a great read. It breaks everything down into fine detail. You also get a double sided poster of the Mojave wasteland with detailed mapping including the location of all collectibles as well as the faction locations. For the collectors each book is individually stamped with its unique number. If like me, you want more than just a game. You want an experience. I'd recommend you get this book, it takes the game to a whole new level.Text is a little too small though and more pictures of the weapons would have been a nice touch. It doesn't cover the expansions though. shame!

Some minor wear to the spine. Please try again. Please try your request again later. Look at the book! It’s MASSIVE. At 448 pages for just the regular edition (480 for the collector’s ed) and OVER 500,000 WORDS between the covers it is a sure bet that this is the single most densely packed, complete strategy guide for a single game ever produced. That’s more words than the first FOUR Harry Potter books combined. This guide has so much information about Fallout: New Vegas that it is going to be used by the publishers testing department as a reference manual. Seriously. You want more specifics. OK, look at the poster map. It shows every exterior and underground location in the entire game. There are 20 more of them than there were in Fallout 3. Plus it marks all points of interest as well as giving visual representations of faction influence over all territories. There is no way to get the entire game world map all at once in-game. This poster is the only time you’ll see the entire Mojave Wasteland laid out end to end. It doesn't cover the expansions though. shame! The map is a great addition.Only problem is that because FNV was so buggy that the weapon stats and some other things are different in the game now and the book is based on the buged game, Doh.I optioned to play the game through my steam account, which then always upgraded the game patches,so I got to play the game a lot better than those who played on live. You should read the walk throughs as the game is more complex in the game play than it appears at first. The game will still crash every now and then which stops this game being really great.

The difference between this and the normal edition is the hardcover and there are 32 pages of extra content (art and behind the scenes stuff). Mine's numbered 97590, so I guess they printed a lot of collector's edition. The book is split into a few main parts: Training, Main Quest, Side Quest, Tour of Mojave Wasteland and Appendices. The Training The type is fairly small, but not cringing small. The Training section basically talks about the game mechanics and character development. There's an explanation for all the attributes, perks, skills, etc available, all of which I find very useful as I'm new to Fallout. There are also suggested character builds with recommended stats and suggestions on how to spend you Skill points. And of course, there are weapon information and enemy profiles. The walkthrough section is detailed and complete with all the items you can find during any particular quest. To avoid spoilers, just skip the text and follow the quest flowchart which is basically a list the prerequisites required for the quest. Items you can find are marked by big icons. Side quests come in at an overwhelming 150 pages, more than twice the pages for the story quest. Wow. They are as detailed as the main walkthrough. This where you can find cool items, gain extra experience and visit strange places. I might take a year traveling through the desert to find all these side quests without the guide. You can be sure you won't miss any even if you miss talking to any characters. Maps come in a few form and they are very useful. The pullout poster map has 3 maps showing the roads, enemy hangouts and collectibles respectively.

In the book, the maps are close-ups of areas and blueprints of buildings with details down to the room level, and the list of collectibles and quests. I've only bought guides like this for Bethesda games though. I just find them more handy for the completionist in me. Anyways, I want wanting to order this guide for Fallout New Vegas, but I don't want to waste my money if it doesn't include the DLC content guides too.So does anyone know if it does or not. If you're a collector-type of player in the game, then this book (or the paperback edition) is for you. Just visit my Amazon profile for the link.)I ended up buying the Collector's Edition because the regular edition wasn't immediately available and I didn't want to wait. I also played Fallout 3 and had the guide for that too. That's why I consider it an essential. Some of the above reviews are fairly complete, so I'll give you an example of why I consider the guide indispensable: Early on, one of the quests in Goodsprings optionally requires you to convince several of the townsfolk to join you in a gunfight against the powder gangers. You need higher level skills in Barter, Speech and Explosives to accomplish this. The only way you are going to have these levels of skill, early on at least, are by obtaining skill magazines or books. Where are you going to get them. The guide will tell you the closest locations. One of them I would have never found until much later. Someone indicated that the guide is complex. Since the game is very non-linear there is probably not much choice. This is a huge guide and requires that you bounce around a lot. My only complaint is that the printing in the guide is a bit on the small size. Maybe they were saving paper! It does have everything you could ever want to know in there. The only problem is that Prima made an Oops, and forgot to include an index. However, if you go to their website, they give you a pdf to print out. Otherwise, you're stuck having to look at the map index, scanning a list of locations to get the zone id, then going to the book. Kind of awkward, but once you know that, you're fine. I don't think the layout is quite as good as the previous FO3 GotY CE book. Information doesn't seem to be as logically arranged.

The typeface is also smaller and harder to read. However, it's still indispensable and I wouldn't want to give up my copy.If the story is still new to you read carefully, as there is a section on the different endings and the quest walkthroughs contain some spoilers though are explained vaguely enough that if you are having trouble on a particular part of a quest, you can read what to do without ruining the whole quest for yourself. Also contains many helpful tips for the new Hardcore Mode. I would recommend this guide to anyone playing the game, from beginner all the way to expert, as this guide has maps, item locations, walkthroughs, etc.Its information is vast and reasonablly well outlined.

Amazon Customer 4.0 out of 5 stars The guide was so talented. But as an individual traveler these guidebooks are important and mostly useful.Well laid out. Bought as a present for my brother who is going to NZ later this year. Of course I have had a look through the book myself and found it to be informative and educational. The wording is concise with no waffle.Ideal for my brother. The guide is well written judging by dozens other guides. However, I cannot judge it yet on the actual information about New Zealand.
