In order to obtain future course updates, you need to register on the iGolf web site.Once this was complete it still wasn’t clear to us how to update the NEO-X watch, so we started by searching for specific courses.We wish we could tell you how long it takes to set up the device including syncing, but as mentioned above, we haven’t yet been able to sync. We do, however, highly recommend that users sync prior to the first use of the device just in case there have been course updates since the unit was packed in the box, and we find it useful to continue to sync on a regular basis thereafter. But we continue to be amazed by the number of incredibly poor syncing experiences we’ve experienced with golf GPS units. If syncing isn’t available or isn’t working at launch, the user will likely conclude (and rightfully so, in some cases) that they can’t count on it ever being available. Someone needs to remind these device manufacturers about first impressions! Course coverage is 93. Note that our test only counts a course as “covered” on the NEO-X if it has both front-center-back information and hazards. Excellent battery life. We initially pooh-poohed this feature, but after playing around with it a few times, actually decided that it had some value.The NEO-X will always default to the 1st hole, but if you are starting on a different hole, it’s just a matter of pushing the “up” or “down” buttons to advance to the appropriate hole. The former is extremely useful for backing up your complaints about how long the round is taking with actual facts. The device will automatically return to Hole View after approximately 8 seconds. Pressing any other button will end the measurement, and thus you cannot toggle between views while continuing to measure shot distance. You don’t have to exit your current round to check the battery level. If you don’t know what the date is, you’re out of luck. Hole handicap is not available. And it’s also waterproof!

None of the features or preference settings other than shot tracking can be accessed without exiting from your current round. You can still see all customer reviews for the product. I gave each distance 30 secs prior to recording the number to give the gps time to adjust to my movements. I ran the experiment 3 times. The watch appears to be more accurate the longer the distance. I found it very easy to use and won't miss having to put the laser up to my eye, hold it very steady to make any more measurements. I am not a good enough golfer that 1 or 2 yds is going to make a big difference in my score. Enjoy However, since I live in a northern climate, actual use is less than one year. Recently, the battery has lost substantial life, even with a full charge. The battery lasts four holes of play, and the no battery sign is seen. The watch is then unusable. I wrote Bushnell. The warranty is one year. The battery cannot be replaced by the owner. It must be serviced by Bushnell. To obtain service, the watch must be sent to Bushnell with a ten dollar check to cover return shipping. Bushnell then tells you the cost of repair. With shipping costs, it is conceivable the repair can cost 50 of the original cost. Bushnell should either make a watch with a consumer replaceable battery, or make a watch with an effective battery life of more than one year. I just want the three important distances (middle, front and back of the green) and occasionally, shot distances. The NEO XS seems pretty accurate for those functions. I've had two of the entry-level Garmin GPS watches, both have apparently been replaced by newer models in their line. Both watches quit, for different reasons, after about 18 months of service. That was disappointing. I can only hope to get more from the Bushnell. I like the band on this Bushnell much better than the Garmin bands - it's softer and more comfortable. I was also impressed by how much quicker this watch links with the satellite source.
It's just seconds for the NEO, but it can be over a minute for the Garmins. That only matters if you forget to get communication started on the first tee box and discover the oversight when you reach your tee shot. Another plus is that the the charging device is easier to use; the connecting clamp on the watch is a little simpler to affix. The charger has been an issue though: It charges intermittently and not completely - I wasn't able to get through a full round before the power ran down. I talked to the Bushnell service department about the problem and they were very helpful and very cooperative. They acknowledged that they have had some problems with a number of their charging cable clamps. They quickly sent me another and it solved the problem. I have a friend that bought one of these and he has had no trouble. Overall, this seems to be a step up from the prior-model Garmin products. My boyfriend has golfed at least 30 different places in Michigan since I purchased the watch and only one course was not available as a pre-load. He says he would not golf without this watch and it has improved his game. He is a consistent low 80's golfer, but has been getting scores in the 70's lately with the watch. The sync plug-in has been replaced by a new sync application that now must be installed in order for your device to be detected on our site. I have a golf buddy that I play with who has a hand held and they closely match each time. The best thing about it is that it is very simple to operate. My business partner is a software developer and his first comment when I mentioned buying the watch was did I think I would be able to figure out how to set it up. I loved telling him it was a no brainer. Along those same lines, I played with a friend whose son bought the Garmin, which has more bells and whistles but is complex to operate. Stick with the Bushnell and you can focus on your game and not your watch.

I had to turn the sound off on the watch because every time it changed holes it beeped, sometimes in my or one of my fellow golfer's back swings. So, I called Bushnell and followed their directions for sending the watch to their U.S. Repair Services organization. For the heck of it, I tried the watch again and it still wouldn't display the hole I was on. For the record, I followed all the instructions in the user manual, synced the watch using the iGolf app, and repeatedly re-downloaded the courses I play. I should also note that my wife has the same watch and it works perfectly. This is how they compare. The neo xs is lighter and more comfortable. It has a longer battery life. Both watches have all the courses I play preloaded into it. Both seem very accurate and do a good job auto advancing to the next hole. Connecting to the watch needs to be done via their website and you need to download and install a plugin. Its really a clunky way of doing it and it doesn't even work, there are tons of people with the same problem if you seach google, seems to be an issue with JAVA. After spending several hours trying to connect I just gave up. You really dont need the feature, but since they offer it, it should work.Please try again later. Please try again later. The band is of a stretch material that holds in place so when it gets hot and my arm is sweating it doesn't annoy. They could make the band a little larger, I have an 8 inch wrist and I'm close to the end. If you have a big wrist go into a store and try one on first. It is easy to hit the middle right button to check for hazards and the watch finds the course quickly. The updating procedure is a bit flawed. The folks at iGolf could get a bit more sophisticated. You have to download some drivers to your PC to read the device and then the manager doesn't actually read your device. Meaning if you plan to go on a trip it might be a good idea to update the courses you are going to play just in case there were changes. I love this watch. It's always with me which is great when the course is cart path only. It gives distance to hazards and bunkers, and front, middle and back of green. Also, no problem when you travel. The device picks up all the courses around your area without having to search for them. The flexible band is very comfortable. I don't even know I have it on.
