The TU-12 and TU-12h were originally designed to fit in the cavity near the handle of the Boss 6-pedal-unit, the BCB-60. From these previous electronic tuners we now arrive at the TU-3.How this footswitch works is dependent on the output jack used. Use this when you don't want people to hear you tuning up. That means that whether the tuner is on or off, the instrument signal will always be going out on this jack.

Use this when you don't care about people hearing you tune up. The newer TU-3w, Waza Craft Chromatic Tuner allows the musician to turn the buffer on and off, as desired.Using this mode is simple enough: play a note, and the pedal will detect the note, and show which note is being played in the digital display. One on the left side of the pedal face pointing right, the other on the right side of the pedal pointing left. If your pitch is flat, the left arrow will light up, telling you that the pitch needs to increase. If your pitch is sharp, the right arrow will light up, telling you to tune down. Reproduced here under Fair Use. There are two tuning modes and both work well, they're just configured differently to cater to different player preferences. In this tuning mode, the lights in the Tuning Indicator act almost like a needle in a VU meter. The more extremely flat or sharp that the note that is detected by the TU-3, the further the light-indicator-needle will be from the center of the tuning indicator.A couple of lights from each side of the tuning indicator will converge in the center of the tuning indicator, and the light of the indicator will change from red to yellow-green, indicating that the note is tuned properly. The flatter or sharper that notes are tuned, the faster the lights on the tuning indicator will rotate. As the note gets closer to the correct pitch, the rotation of the lights will slow down. The tuning indicator section will briefly display 5-6 vertical bands to indicate you're in high-brightness mode. It's not an effect that will change the signal. This means no phase inversion from the TU-3The closest schematic that we've been able to muster is from a first-edition TU-2 service manual (issued by RJA) from Japan. Since the circuitry for the TU-2 is an antecedent to the TU-3, and likely very close, we've included it to aid in possible trouble-shooting. Tired of downloading the same vague schematics from yet another website, the copy that is copied ad infinitum on the web. Or did you buy a CD on eBay, full of the same rubbish. Time is money, and especially so for technicians. Time that should be dedicated to repair and not wasted with the frustrations of searching for a decent service manual. So here is a site with only high quality, high resolution service manuals, most of them carefully cleaned, restored and sometimes partially re-drawn. Here you will find no unreadable drawings or manuals with crucial pages missing. Here you get what you need for the job and get on with it. Free downloads instead of paying silly money for an email with attachment. Of course hi-res means large files. They can be up to 8 times the size of a lo-res scan. That means they need much more server space, space that has to be rented at costs that will come back every year. And many of the manuals you will find here had to be bought as hard copy originals from the manufacturers before they could be scanned at all. Most of this is funded privately, but there is a limit to this budget. Yes, you got it. donations. When this service is useful to you, and you not only want it to continue but to expand as well, that's the way. Contributions received will immediately result in more server space, giving room for more service docs. Donations will also open the way for later additions, such as synth chip data- sheets, synthesizer spec sheets, etc. Your donation will help to make this site a database for synth technicians as never before available on the world wide web. Anyway, I have always suspected its not quite right and its also a bit hard of hearing, sometimes picking up the vibration of the guitar and sometimes not. So ideally, something which I can plug into the signal path (then I know its going to hear the bass properly) and obviously if it mutes me during tuning too, that's ideal. I guess all tuners these days can identify the actual note, then show how far off it you are. Also - not massively important but would be useful - if it has a transpose function, eg it can have a small mic plugged in, and if I play eg F or Bb, it displays as C. Any recommendations. I don't want to spend too much either. The transpose only goes down to 6 semitones flat, not sure if that's enough. I'm watching a few on eBay. I have looked over this particular bit of music again and I can do it all in drop D tuning, so long as I remember its a different tuning. Being one tone out on the low notes at full volume would not sit well. Other options include buying a 5 string bass; or a 2nd bass which is tuned to drop D, but these I think need to be rejected on cost grounds too. You can tell it you're in a different tuning and it will show a polyphonic strum for that tuning but I've only ever seen it show single notes at the pitch they really are.Professional grade tuner that I think will do everything you want. Best tuner I've ever had - if I lost it I'd replace it with the same again. (there's also the Tu15 that has alternate tunings for DADGAD, open E, A etc). The Tu12H and Tu15 do not mute, but i've never had a problem with that. The original idea for leaving it connected was in the old Boss BCB-6, where it went in the special slot at the top of the board, but it was in the loop of the PSM-5 'Master Switch' pedal so it was buffered. It's not a massive tone-sucker compared to some cheaper analogue tuners, but you can still hear it. Hard to see enough detail to work out what the input impedance is, but it's definitely not buffered.

I've got an ancient one somewhere -- it was the first tuner I bought -- but it always felt clunky for electric guitar. As soon as I discovered pedal tuners I mothballed the TU-12. It seems to offer the specs (except transposing - I can live without that) and since its a pedal, allows easy switching to mute the output and let me tune up, also it can be battery powered which saves on needing a power supply (although I'll probably use one). Trump has spoken movingly about 7-Eleven. It reminded him, he said, of the way. Americans came together in 1941 after Pearl Necklace. I used to resort to taking the battery out whilst transporting it. These days I much prefer a headstock tuner. Gig with my TU2 which I've had for years. Bright enough read out in any indoor gig I've ever done. Got a Poly tune clip but it flies off quite easy, I wouldn't gig with it. I've got a couple of clip on tuners and they can both struggle with a low E (especially on bass) The Behringer will work but you might get better longevity out of a Boss. If you want a small footprint the Polytune Mini is good. FREE shipping all over the world. You will see all the files as you open it in your PC or Mac computer. Tom L 5.0 out of 5 stars I also have a couple of the popular (cheaper) Snark tuners and I thought it might be useful to point out a couple of notable differences. - The Boss has a finer resolution. Both tuners will show an in-tune string as in tune. However, I have a mandolin, with pairs of equally-tuned strings. The Snark will show both strings as being in tune when they are noticeably not in tune with each other. When the Boss shows each string in tune they're always in tune with each other. - The Boss has a higher range. The Snark will accurately detect E4, but not much higher. The Boss will go as high as E5. That, along with the better resolution, make it useful for checking the intonation of the bridge - The Boss has both an LCD and LED display. The LCD makes the Boss easy to read outdoors. The Snark not so muchThis is one. It works well, looks good, and feels good. Two complaints: The black and white option is too dark to see well, but I think I will mainly use the color tuning option. The other is that the material is not guaranteed for use on guitars with a nitro finish (nitrocellulose lacquer), like I have on my Gibson Songwriter guitar. Why wouldn't they make it for that, like Planet Waves does.
dienhoanghean.com/upload/ck/files/concealed-carry-gun-manual-safety.pdf
Or like they use on the Hercules guitar stand. Though they also had the odd response that there are not that many nitro-finish guitars out there.) Also, if you are playing left-handed, with the guitar turned the other direction, the head doesn't swivel, so you will have to clip it sidewise on the headstock and read it upside down. But on stage I wanted something that would be easier to use and see (no light on the TU-12H). I looked at several clip-on tuners and settled on the Boss TU-10 because of my experience with Boss and that this one also has a strobe tuning function. The strobe reminds me a lot of the Peterson strobe tuners. I'm very happy with this Boss tuner. It's response is fast -- very fast -- and I like that it works on vibration, so I can turn down, tune up quickly and turn back up and continue to rock. Great tuner and highly recommended.Very accurate, more accurate than the Snark (which I also own and like), the bright LCD screen is easy to read. Use it on my mando, bass and guitar all with great results. The tuners that look like the head and clip are connected at one little area with a ball joint or stem seem like they would be much more prone to breakage than this one. I would also think the Boss' design allows it to more readily pick up vibrations from whatever it is clipped on. The battery life is impressive. I've owned it for more than three years now and am still on the original battery. I use it on acoustic guitars (nylon string, steel string, 12 string, lap steel), electric guitars, electric bass, and ukulele and it's had no difficulties finding the correct pitch. I only use the default mode (the one shown on the screen in the product photo). It's the first clip-on and digital tuner of this sort that I've owned, so I can't compare its performance with any others, but I believe it is quite accurate. The instruments I tune with it always match up with my keyboard and any previously recorded music I might play along with.
I'm glad I finally bought one of these tuners. It's been a very useful thing to have around, especially when recording. The tuning sounds accurate to my ears and agrees closely enough with my Turbo Tuners. It can be set up to be visually confusing, just choose how you want it to display. It's been reliable, and the clamp is solid. The Korg Aw-lt100g (the tuning on the display jumps around too much) - Korg said they had a special circuit for accuracy, whatever?? it's annoying. So far this Boss is the best. They advertise that the clip doesn't break. But that's because it doesn't pivot, which makes it a little harder to see. They could have designed a pivot, so I don't consider the design an advantage. The clip itself is really strong. The tuning seems more accurate than the other 2. I've checked it with a built in tuner on my acoustic guitar. My experience with Boss stuff has been really good. This thing is still humming along. Although I can tune by ear, I enjoy using one of these as it gets it right the first time in experienced hands. I won't buy another one. This one has no stem to break. You need to read the manual and play with it for a a while, it's more complicated than say a Snark or cheaper clip-on tuners. You can set the tuner to read flats, handy if you like to tune down for better bends. Reference pitch is adjustable as well. The instructions are easy to follow. There are a few different displays available, streaming or standard cent. The display is much brighter than any of my other tuners so it's easier to see which is a big plus for me. It's bigger than it looks on the web, very chunky, however my Washburn R320swrk parlor guitar has a very thick tuning head and it struggles to open wide enough to seat on it well - just about OK. All my other tuners struggle with the Washburn too. All in all a good tuner that you would expect from Boss with its long history of quality pro products.
However if you don't want to spend rather a lot of money on the Boss, there are plenty of cheaper good tuners out there, D'addario, Snark etc which are more basic but excellent Tuners and most importantly they get your tuning right!Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Very accurate and easy to read. Takes slightly longer to tune guitar as the tuner is sensitive so needs very small adjustments of tuning pegs to get accurate tuning.Quite large, but lightweight. Display bright and colourful, but can be changed to monochrome to lengthen battery life. Tuning displays can be changed depending on preference. Quite expensive compared to some others, but accuracy is very good and build quality means it should last a while.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again I have used other digital tuners which have been OK but not 100 reliable, and only bought this because I lost a previous (cheaper) tuner, but I'm glad I did. Negative points - more expensive than many other tuners - comes in a relatively large box for a small item - not really anything else Summary Like so many things in life, you get what you pay for. I am genuinely impressed with this tuner, after disappointment with other cheaper types. I have only used it during one gig so far, but am surprised at how much better than my previous two tuners it has proved to be. NB I'll edit this page if I get any further experiences that change my view.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Being Boss it's accuracy is guaranteed - the product is sturdy and clips on all but one of my acoustic guitars, I have 4. The one that causes a problem has a curved head. It is a bit quirky to read, compared to cheaper tuners that give the note as a large upper case letter in different colours, but one gets the sense of accuracy of the digital needle deflection during the tuning, difficult to explain, but most guitarists develop some kind of sense when tuning.
I certainly feel confident when using this device. The tuner comes with a lengthy explanation leaflet, though you might need a magnifying glass to read its small print. The tuner ships with a battery and I had the whole thing working within minutes of unpacking. Does not ship with a carry bag so if you plan to take this with you on gigs, you will need to find a safe way to carry it.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again The digital tuners built into amps, including the excellent modelling Roland XL cube amps, are not as accurate or practical, so a guitar player still needs a dedicated tuner. I have used many digital tuners.including the original excellent TU 12 model(which I still own) bought in Denmark street in London's West End in 1989 for ?52! How these digital gadgets just get better and cheaper. So at ?25 I think Roland have produced the most convenient and accurate design with this model; it is simply clipped to the headstock.and works perfectly on either my classical guitar or Fender Stratocaster; I think Roland will capture the market with this product and design.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again This one is very stable and secure and works very well. Very happy with it!Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again My only complaint is it seems to struggle with the bottom E string but not a big deal to tune one string by ear and it can tune it it just struggles a bit more to pick it up.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again I like the screen display - its bright and you get a satisfying double arrow pointing to the scale note name when it's spot on. The range is good, from the very high to the very low. One button operation - press's once for on, twice for on-with-a-back-light and once again for off. It doesn't have a swivel head on it but that makes no difference to its purpose.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Sorry, we failed to record your vote.
Please try again Brilliant tuner. Only reason I had to get another one was because my whippet chewed it into tiny pieces.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again It looks the part and is so easy to use. The colour blends in nicely with my acoustic guitars and clips securely on my tailpiece. The colour display on an ocean blue background is very easy on the eye and is easy to switch on and off.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Its quick and easy to use, pretty accurate, nice display and you can do alternative tunings with it for just ?25 pounds. Yes there are cheaper alternatives but Boss make products that are bullet proof and reliable. This is a good shout.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. I wrote this description on a request in the analogue heaven maillist. Please keep in mind that tuning an polyphonic synth is not the best idea if it is the first time in your life that you are tuning a synth. A lot of patience and concentration are required. Don't listen too loud to the tuningsounds, because they will make everyone else in the world go nuts - especially your partner or your landlord. (don't say I didn't warn you) ATTENTION: TUNING THE MONOPOLY INTERNALLY REQUIRES TO OPEN THE CASE OF THE MONOPOLY.Then, calibrate the keyboard CV generation by adjusting the Key Assigner KLM356 to very precise values (a high precision DVM is essential here). Don't start the VCO calibration unless you have confirmed that the assigner is generating EXACTLY 1 volt per octave, as described in the calibrating procedure in the service manual. Otherwise you'll have a very hard time getting things right. (Thanks to Alain Hubert for this hint!).
The only things you need for the adjustment is a fine screwdriver for handling the trimmers and a wide range tuner with a analogue meter like a Boss TU-12H (in fact the TU12-H is the only today available tuner which I would recommend). As soon as you turn the trimmer also the low note changes - don't get worried about that. The only thing that matters is the difference between the two notes. The absolute pitch of those two notes does not matter at that moment. Then the main thing is done for this VCO. Setting VR101: Don't make this adjustment before VR103 is adjusted perfectly Again the absolute note does not matter.
