We take an unbiased approach to help you better your health.Do you want to know which supplements are most likely to help you achieve your health goals, according not to marketing or bro-hype, but to actual human studies. Then the Examine Supplement Guides were made for you. Every year, people spend billions of dollars on them. They have one goal: to convince you to buy their supplements. They’re sick of misinformation and wading through studies that contradict each other. They just want to know what’s a waste of money and what works. They’re looking for guidance on the right supplements to help them achieve their specific health goals. We’ve taken our decades of knowledge and experience and summed it up in a series of practical guides, with each focused on a specific health goal - burning fat, building muscle, increasing testosterone, reducing anxiety, and many more. Our Supplement Guides can decrease the amount you spend, while increasing the benefit you get, giving you more bang for your buck. Here are five reasons that the Examine Supplement Guides will help you improve your health. We do this by being an educational organization, not one that sells you supplements. We don’t even sell ad space on our website. All our revenue comes from our expert guides, which both laypeople and professionals purchase to stay on top of the latest research.
Journalists can look at one study and blow it totally out of proportion (after all — sensationalism sells). And we don’t take a superficial look — we look at the methodology, participant characteristics, and much more. When there is not enough evidence, we’re not afraid to say, “It’s promising, but not 100 empirically backed.” Absolutely! But what about berberine for blood sugar control. How about creatine for testosterone. Sorry — even though it might be marketed as promising, and it’s a popular supplement for muscle building, there’s evidence suggesting it does nothing for testosterone. You'll get clear step-by-step directions. What would you give to make sure that never happens again. The Examine Supplement Guides don’t hype up anything that doesn’t work (like we mentioned earlier — we have no incentive to promote any supplements!) so you’ll always know exactly how effective every supplement in your cupboard is. Almost all of our customers reported spending less on supplements after buying our guides! With tens of thousands of supplement studies published every year, current information can become outdated very quickly. As the latest research comes out, we continue to update the guides to ensure they are accurate so you can be confident when following them. Instead of spending hundreds of hours trying to figure it out yourself (and still feeling unsure), you can rely on our decades of expertise to help you achieve your health goals. You will be notified when any significant update is made. The team includes nutrition researchers, registered dietitians, physicians, and pharmacists. We have a strict editorial process. A lot of the information put out is created by the very people who are trying to sell you supplements in the first place, or by people who have affiliations with specific companies. When you consider the power of the placebo effect, the number of total variables involved in a complete fitness program, and the fact that muscle growth and fat loss are gradual processes to begin with, it would be extremely difficult for even an advanced trainee to accurately determine the specific effects of any given supplement they’re using in relation to their entire program as a whole. You would then be given a list of supplements that best suit that goal, including how effective they are, the studies that support those effects, the details of those specific studies, plus additional comments. Instead, use the search function in the book to search for particular supplements or health goals that you’re specifically interested in. I hope you found the information useful. I think I may actually I will purchase this ebook today. I don't really need the guide, but I'm buying it anyways to support their work. Stay tuned to see what I like about it what I don’t like and if I think it’s worth its price tag. Let’s get started. That’s where supplements come into play.I know because that’s what I been doing for the last few years. The problem is that I don’t like to base my advice on just hearsay so even if a supplement worked for me or a friend it doesn’t mean it’ll work for everyone out there. Now for those of you that don’t know what examine.com does here’s a short summary. They don’t sell supplements and aren’t affiliated with any of the large supplement companies. Basically, they compiling research to see which supplements are scientifically proven to work and which are nothing but hype. Ok, so after having read through most of it here’s what I think you should know before buying it. The guide itself is huge, which I’ll talk about in a second, but the introduction to the overall topic of supplements is quite short. They basically just tell you how to use the guide and give you a short overview of which supplements are worth buying for the average person. Now don’t get me wrong the content in the introduction is great and the list is very helpful but I would have liked to see a little more detail here. Just to give the reader a broader overview of what the guide and examine is all about. All future updates are included when you get the guide I just haven’t downloaded the newest one yet. Huge as in over a thousand pages. It sounds crazy but when I first looked at the page count I thought it was a bug. What they did was basically create an entire encyclopedia of all the research available on all the supplements out there. The way it is presented is actually pretty cool because you can either search for a certain supplement or for a certain health goal.
So for example, if I want to find all the research on vitamin d, I would go to the supplement overview, find vitamin D and click on it. After that, you can see a table with all the effects vitamin D supplementation can have on your health. To make things easier for you let me explain what the different columns mean. So the column on the very left where you can see an A states the level of evidence of the effect. B is a little less reliable but still indicates multiple studies where at least two were double-blind and placebo controlled. C is even less reliable with only one double blind study and D indicates a low level of evidence based on observational studies only. So A represents the highest level of evidence and D the lowest. So, in this case, the first effect studied was a risk of falls in elderly people. So we know that vitamin D supplementation leads to a decrease in the risk of falls in elderly people. The next step is to check the magnitude of this effect, mean how large the change really was. One star means a minor change, two stars represent a notable change and three stars a strong change. In this case, the change is notable because there are two stars. The last two columns will show you how many studies actually analyzed this effect and a short comment explaining the overall results. So if we go to the health goal overview we can see a list of goals to choose from. Then what you want to do is go through the list and click on one of the health goals that interest you. I’ll just take a random one so you know what I mean, let’s say blood pressure. Just like before the results are ordered by their level of evidence. If we scroll down the list you can see various more supplements and their effects and in the case of blood pressure, there are quite a few. I have to say that this is by far the most in depth resource on research done on supplements. What I like is not only the simple structure but also that the authors don’t make any brand recommendations.
That way you know they aren’t paid by any supplement company and their results really are unbiased. The lists I just showed you put it all the research together in an easy-to-use manner and you simply look up whichever supplement or health goal you’re interested in, and you will instantly know which supplements work (and which don’t). If you are a personal trainer of diet coach I’d say the guide is a must but even if you are just an average gym goer or want to lose weight this is one of the best ressources I have come across so far. Once again I linked the sales page for you to check it out and I know from their customer serive that they offer a 60 day money back guarantee if you buy and don’t like it for some reason. Click Here Felix Harder. After all, it’s only human nature to feel optimal only to realize that much progress is yet to be made. While I can give the basics, knowing everything there is to know about every supplement is tasking just thinking about it. It shouldn’t be difficult, and the folks at Examine.com developed what seems to be their magnum opus in regards to research on the world of supplements.Or if you’re looking to increase memory or the ability to remember things, there is also a subheading for that. This is one aspect that may be the most helpful of the resource, as some of you may be more interested in learning how to lose more fat, as opposed to learning the finer details of creatine on power production. It should be noted that Examine.com goes out of the way to explain what the supplements’ effects are, along with including the studies that determined these effects. No snake oil salesmen are getting through without being researched and dissected by Examine.com. My focus at the moment is on postural adaptations claimed from strength training and its various subtopics. I can’t claim to know everything about nutrition, or supplements in this case, and chances are if you ask me what supplements to take, I’ll refer to this guide to look up the answer. Those that are also science nerds will doubly appreciate the DB scale, although you’ll probably wish I didn’t capitalize the d.) For each supplement, the guide provides a brief description, followed by a table showing: This is really the coup de grace: it’s literally all here.
Next time you see an article in the media that makes claims about a supplement based on a single study, flip to the relevant page in this guide to see what the rest of the studies say. This is a rare treat. There is no agenda other than to share knowledge. Just thinking about that makes me swoon. I know that’s dramatic. But let’s face it commentary sections more often than not are about supporting a thesis. In this case, the comments provide a simple summary of the information in the relevant studies and where relevant, some context. By context, I mean that sometimes there are studies that suggest conflicting results?on the surface, but a full review may reveal that the study methodology doesn’t fully support the conclusion, or that the studies are based on different demographics. Here is an example of a comment about the effect Fish Oil has on blood pressure: So next time you read the conclusions that the media has made based on a new study, check out your guide and you’ll see that it has been updated to include that information. In fact I was chatting with a friend earlier today and we both suspect sales will be negatively affected by how low the price is.While it does provide a basic description, I found myself wishing for more about the relevance of the supplement, including things like why people take them, and if there are either other similar supplements, or complementary supplements. For instance, having diabetes as a category and then blood glucose and insulin sensitivity listed within it, instead of simply having blood glucose and insulin sensitivity listed alphabetically. Bottom line: it’s a really, really good source of unbiased information. If I don’t like a product, I will only include a direct purchasing link (you may still want to buy it even if I don’t like it). If I like the product but there is no affiliate program, I will also only include a direct link (too obvious?).
I hope you’ll agree that it’s reasonable that I do this, and that you trust that I value my integrity too much to ever let an affiliate option cloud my judgement. If you don’t support the concept of the affiliate links, but want to buy a product that I’ve reviewed, I have included an affiliate-free link for you. Other Fitness and Nutrition Products Reviewed. By Julianne - November 8, 2013 2 SHARE Facebook Twitter tweet I’ve been using Examine.com for some time to check what the studies really say about supplements, not just what the supplement companies hype says. I have found the information incredibly useful and frequently send links to clients who have questions about what a certain supplement might do for their health condition. The list of supplements is huge and the number of studies (20,000 peer reviewed) these guys have looked at and referenced is mind boggling. Now Examine.com have put all the charts and graphs into a new reference book, in a format that is really easy to get the information in a compact understandable way. You know that supplements can help, but you don’t know who to trust. Everywhere you turn, you’re overwhelmed with companies promising you the latest and the greatest. For the past two and a half years, we’ve been trudging through thousands and thousands of peer-reviewed scientific studies so that we can thoroughly understand supplements. Having analyzed over 25,000 individual studies, we’ve come to learn what works (and what doesn’t).
