PREPARING TO DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE Utility vehicles have a significantly higher rollover rate than other types of vehicles. In a rollover crash, an unbelted person is significantly more likely to die than a person wearing a seat belt. If you cannot move the gearshift lever out of P (Park) with ignition in the ON position and the brake pedal depressed: 1. Always come to a complete stop before shifting into and out of R (Reverse). Preparing to tow Use the proper equipment for towing a trailer, and make sure it is properly attached to your vehicle. Do not attach safety chains to the bumper. Trailer brakes Electric brakes and manual, automatic or surge-type trailer brakes are safe if installed properly and adjusted to the manufacturer’s specifications. Follow these guidelines if you have the need for recreational towing your vehicle with all four wheels on the ground. These guidelines are designed to ensure that your transmission is not damaged. In Canada, it is found in the Roadside Assistance book in the glove compartment. Use the following procedure to reset the fuel pump shut-off switch. 1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position. 2.
